Starsand Island Fast Travel Guide (Bus Stops, Vehicles & Mounts)

Starsand Island looks calm, but the map is massive. In the early hours, you walk everywhere, and travel time slows progress more than any other system. Fast travel exists, but the game locks it behind progression, crafting, and resource investment. This guide explains exactly how fast travel works, how to unlock it, and when to use vehicles or mounts.

Can You Fast Travel in Starsand Island?

Yes, but not at the start. Starsand Island locks fast travel behind the Building Starsand Station quest. Until you complete it, you must rely on walking, skateboards, or rented rides.

Fast travel uses Bus Stops, which act as fixed teleport points across the island. You cannot teleport from the map menu. You must physically visit a station to travel to another one.

How to Unlock Fast Travel (Bus Stops)

Fast travel unlocks after steady progression through the Island Life app.

Requirements to unlock the quest

  • Reach Island Pro rank
  • Help Marston build the Maritime Bureau
  • Trigger the quest Building Starsand Station from Solara

This quest does not unlock fast travel instantly. It only unlocks the ability to repair bus stops.

Quest requirements

You must complete the following steps:

  1. Cook four Soup Dumplings
    • Made at a campfire
    • Ingredients: Meat Bites + Flour
  2. Deliver construction materials
    • 5 Iron Sheets
    • 5 Glass Panes
    • 5 Softwood Planks
    • 5 Stone Bricks

After completion, bus stops across the island become repairable.

All Fast Travel Bus Stop Locations

Starsand Island contains 10 Bus Stops, all marked with a train icon on the map.

  • East Hopeland
  • Green Pasture Ranch
  • Exploration Club
  • Cloudrest Lake
  • East Starsand
  • Crane Cape
  • Starsand Station
  • AquaBlue Outpost
  • Half-Moon Bay
  • North Starsand

You must repair at least two stations before fast travel becomes usable.

Bus Stop Repair Costs (Important)

Each Bus Stop requires materials. Most stations share the same recipe.

Standard Bus Stops (9 locations)

  • 10 Stone Bricks
  • 5 Glass Panes
  • 10 Softwood Planks
  • 5 Iron Sheets

Cloudrest Lake Station

  • 10 Stone Bricks
  • 5 Glass Panes
  • 10 Bamboo Boards
  • 5 Iron Sheets

After construction, each fast travel trip costs 15 Gold.

How Fast Travel Works in Starsand Island

Fast travel in Starsand Island has strict rules:

  • You must stand at a bus stop
  • You cannot teleport from the map
  • Travel only works between built stations
  • Each trip costs gold
  • Stations activate the next in-game day after repair

Because of this, fast travel helps mid-game routing, not early exploration.

Vehicles: Faster Than Fast Travel Early On

Vehicles offer mobility without gold costs per trip. They unlock earlier and save time before you finish the bus stop network.

Early-game vehicle (Recommended)

  • Skateboard
    • Blueprint from Zerine
    • Unlocks when you reach Apprentice Crafter
    • Fast enough to skip walking entirely

Craftable vehicles (Best value)

  • Bamboo Raft
  • Sailboard
  • Jet Ski
  • Speedboat

Buying blueprints and crafting vehicles costs far less than purchasing finished rides.

Mounts: Flexible but Temporary

If vehicles are not your style, mounts offer another option.

  • Rented from Pastelle at Green Pasture Ranch
  • Cost: 15–30 Coins per hour
  • Useful for short trips or early errands

Later, Rancher progression lets you raise your own mounts.

Best Travel Strategy in Starsand Island

For smooth progression in Starsand Island, focus on mobility that saves time without draining resources early. Craft the Skateboard as soon as you unlock it, since it removes the need for constant walking and costs nothing to use. Next, repair the bus stop near your home, as it becomes your primary travel hub once fast travel unlocks.

After that, repair one additional station near the mines or the town, which covers most daily routes for farming, crafting, and quests.

Avoid repairing the full bus stop network early, because the material cost slows progression and offers little benefit at that stage. Instead, continue using vehicles for day-to-day movement and save resources. Once you reach the mid-game and materials become easier to obtain, upgrade to a Sailboard or a basic bike for faster travel. Fast travel works best for planned routing between key locations, but vehicles handle early and mid-game movement more efficiently. Play Now!
