California DMV Flags 11,000 Drivers Over Test Irregularities. They must retake the written test in 30 days or lose their license.

The California DMV sent letters to thousands of already licensed drivers warning their licenses are about to be cancelled.

DMV confirmed 11,000 drivers received the letter after written test results showed unexplained "irregularities."

Affected drivers took their written tests between July 2025 and April 2026, according to the DMV.

Recipients must retake the written test within 30 days or their license will be canceled.

Sacramento driver David Specht got the letter and says he knows he did not cheat on his test.

Specht called the DMV but says staff could not explain the irregularity and did not accuse him directly.

The DMV says knowledge tests confirm drivers understand the rules of the road before they are licensed.

No walk-ins allowed: drivers must book an appointment and bring the letter to retake the test.
