Assassin’s Creed Shadows Attack on Titan Quest Walkthrough: Beyond the Walls, Descent, and Final Ending Guide

The Attack on Titan collaboration in Assassin’s Creed Shadows delivers one of the game’s most unique side stories — a limited-time quest chain that mixes Japanese ruins, subterranean traversal, Titan-themed crystals, and one of the most intense chase sequences in the game. The crossover runs only until December 22, 2025, so players who want every cosmetic, banner, and the Legendary Cavern Shard katana need to complete it before the event ends.

How to Start the Attack on Titan Questline

The quest begins once you’ve unlocked Yasuke during Act 1. When the update is installed, travel to the northern edge of the Yamashiro region, just above Hanazono Castle. The quest does not appear on the objective board, so you must discover the location manually.

Search the roadside on the border with Omi to find the body of a fallen Survey Corps scout. Loot the journal to trigger the opening quest, Beyond the Walls. From here, the crossover story becomes available for both Yasuke and Naoe .

Beyond the Walls Walkthrough

1. Investigate the Castle Ruins

After reading the letter, head back south toward Hanazono Castle. The ruins are crawling with Elitrasi Fanatics, and you’ll quickly overhear them discussing a prisoner.

2. Free Ada

Enter the castle and deal with the enemies inside. Yasuke is the recommended character here — his durability and stagger potential make this fight much smoother than trying it with Naoe early-game. After clearing the area, follow the objective marker to the captive.

Free Ada, the lone surviving member of the Titan-hunting team. She explains the situation involving Gautwin, a Titan-Shifter who was manipulated into defecting. Choosing “I’m ready to follow Ada” advances the story and launches the next mission, Descent .

Descent Walkthrough

This mission takes place almost entirely underground and is packed with parkour, traps, destructible walls, and optional collectible chests referencing the different Attack on Titan military factions.

You play as Naoe for most of this section.

Phase 1: Entering the Cavern

Find the First Chest (Training Corps Emblem)

After squeezing through a narrow crawlspace on the left side, you’ll reach a dead end with a chest containing the Training Corps Emblem.

Open the Path for Yasuke and Ada

Throw a shuriken at the explosive barrels to break open the side wall. This action opens a parallel entry route for Yasuke and Ada to follow .

Return through the crawlspace and continue through the newly opened corridor.

Phase 2: Crystal Caverns and Hidden Rewards

Soon you’ll encounter Titan-hardening crystals, which Naoe can slice through with any weapon. Grapple to the ceiling spike and descend into the larger open cavern.

Military Police Banner Chest

Before swinging onward, drop down into the cavern floor to loot another chest — this one contains the Military Police Banner cosmetic.

Climb back up using the crystals and wooden ledges, then progress deeper into the caverns.

Garrison Banner Chest

After crawling through more tight passages and destroying another distant explosive barrel, you’ll enter a multi-level crystal chamber where two enemies patrol the platforms. On the lower side path, you can reach a hidden chest containing the Garrison Banner. This chest is easy to miss; look for footholds along the left-hand cliff wall to climb across to it .

Phase 3: Chasing Ritter and Unlocking the Final Route

Continue navigating through slopes, cracks in the cave, and grapple points until you reach a brighter area where Lord Ritter and Lord Albrecht are heard talking. Slip underneath the broken floorboards to reach the next chamber.

A well-hidden explosive barrel is tucked behind a jagged stone crack — throw a shuriken through the small gap to blow it open. This creates a critical route further down into the caverns.

Phase 4: The Big Traverse – Reaching Gautwin

The final climb toward Gautwin is a long gauntlet of:

  • rope crossings
  • triple-grapple swings
  • stacks of fanatics on elevated platforms
  • limited footholds
  • mid-air assassinations

Tool refill crates are generously placed here, so don’t hesitate to use kunai or shuriken for safe kills.

Optional Area: Unlocking the Eren Yeager Titan Statue

When you reach the wooden plank overlooking a haystack far below — with the objective marker visible in the distance — you’ve arrived at the point where you can earn the special Eren Yeager Titan crystal statue.

How to Access the Statue:

  1. Perform a Leap of Faith off the plank.
  2. Navigate deeper along the crystal walkways.
  3. Climb the triple-planked wall to reach an upper ledge.
  4. Swing across the grapple point where Lord Ritter and a squad of fanatics ambush you.

Ritter is armed with a firearm and fights from elevation, so prioritize him before the melee soldiers. A Kusarigama works especially well in this crowded fight.

After clearing the area, loot the chest beneath the massive Titan crystal to unlock the Eren Yeager Statue cosmetic for your hideout .

Follow the path onward to zipline back to the main route for Gautwin.

Phase 5: Albrecht Boss Fight

You’ll switch to Yasuke as you reach Gautwin. Albrecht and several fanatics appear, leading to a traditional multi-phase boss brawl.

Strategy

  • Take out the ranged fanatic first (teppo user).
  • Albrecht’s attacks are wide but predictable.
  • Parrying is effective for most of his combos.
  • Use an arquebus to break his armor quickly.
  • Dodge the red-glow attacks; they are unparryable.

Once his guards fall, Albrecht becomes significantly more manageable .

Phase 6: Titan-Albrecht Escape Sequence

After being defeated, Albrecht injects Titan serum into himself and transforms into a massive Abnormal-type Titan. You cannot fight this creature.

This turns into a pure chase sequence:

  • sprint nonstop
  • leap across gaps immediately
  • dodge falling debris
  • let Yasuke break through crystal walls blocking the route
  • stay ahead before the narrow ledge crawl section

This escape ends the mission the moment Yasuke breaks through the final crystal barricade.

The World Outside Walkthrough (Final Quest)

Once outside, Naoe, Ada, and Gautwin confront the final choice of the storyline just as Yasuke escapes the collapsing cavern. You must decide the future of the Titan-Shifter.

The Best Ending Choice

Tell Gautwin to return home.

Narratively, Yasuke’s reasoning makes this the stronger resolution: Gautwin was misled, not malicious, and returning to fulfil his oath restores honor and gives him closure in the years he has left. Ada agrees and accompanies him.

This leads to the symbolic “dedicate your heart” salute before the two pairs part ways.

Completing this final quest awards:

  • 3000 XP
  • Cavern Shard (Legendary Katana)
  • Reactive Shell Engraving

The katana also applies a unique Titan-hardening crystal effect to Naoe’s arm and torso — purely cosmetic but visually striking .

All Rewards Summary

Legendary Gear

  • Cavern Shard Katana
  • Reactive Shell engraving

Hideout Decorations

  • Training Corps Banner
  • Garrison Banner
  • Military Police Banner
  • Scout Regiment Banner
  • Eren Yeager Titan Crystal Statue

Tips for Completing the Questline

To complete the questline efficiently, make sure you carry enough kunai and shuriken for quick ranged assassinations, and take full advantage of Naoe’s grapple mobility since most traversal challenges are built around her movement tools. Keep an eye out for horizontally aligned crystal formations, as these indicate climbable surfaces that often lead to hidden paths or chests.

Don’t miss the optional route that unlocks the Eren Yeager statue, because the event offers no second chance to obtain it once it ends. And finally, rely on Yasuke for major combat encounters—his strength makes battles against tough foes like the Samurai Daisho and Lord Albrecht far more manageable. Play Now!
