Borderlands 4 October 2025 Update – Full Patch Notes, Weapon Buffs & Vault Hunter Fixes

The wastelands of Borderlands 4 just got a little more explosive. Gearbox Software has rolled out its newest update for October 2025, focusing on fine-tuning Legendary weapons, rebalancing Vault Hunter abilities, and refreshing weekly events. While it’s a smaller patch compared to last month’s major overhaul, it introduces meaningful improvements that sharpen gameplay balance and boost build variety for every Vault Hunter.

The October 9 update refreshes Borderlands 4’s rotating activities and adds quality-of-life fixes. Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine has moved to a new hidden spot and now stocks a fresh lineup of high-tier loot. The Weekly Big Encore Boss has also rotated out, replaced by a tougher variant of a familiar boss featuring an enhanced drop pool.

In addition, the Weekly Wildcard Mission introduces a new objective with a guaranteed Legendary drop. Players can rerun this mission as often as they like to chase the perfect roll, making it an ideal way to upgrade end-game loadouts.

Gear Balance Updates

Gearbox has targeted several fan-favorite Legendaries, giving them damage boosts that make each weapon feel deadlier and more satisfying. Below are the highlights:

WeaponChange Summary
Ruby’s GraspDamage +50%, Fire Rate +25%
Bully DroneDrone and Base Damage +50%
RangefinderBase Damage +30%
Queen’s RestSpawn Chance 30 → 50%, Fire Rate +50%
Seventh SenseOrb Damage +250%
HellwalkerBase Damage +30%
ConvergenceBase Damage +25%

These upgrades dramatically increase the potential of many top-tier weapons, particularly Seventh Sense and Ruby’s Grasp, which now feel much more impactful in high-difficulty encounters.

Vault Hunter & Pet Fixes

The patch also addresses several gameplay inconsistencies affecting passive scaling and ability interactions. All pet companions—including Trouble, Specters, Reapers, and Forgeweapons—now properly inherit Critical Hit Chance bonuses from passives and equipped gear.

Meanwhile, Vex the Siren’s Bleed ability has been corrected to once again count as Status Effect Damage, restoring the viability of the popular Infinite Bleed build that had been unintentionally nerfed in a previous patch. The Anarchy Legendary shotgun has also been fixed so that it now correctly grants Stacks of Mutualism when you auto-reload or defeat enemies.

Gearbox’s Approach to Game Balance

Gearbox’s approach this season has centered on expanding build diversity and smoothing out power spikes across the Vault Hunter roster. Earlier in October, Amon’s Scourge and Cybernetics trees, Vex’s Vexcalation path, Rafa’s APOPHIS Lance, and Harlowe’s Stasis abilities all received major tuning passes to ensure that melee, elemental, and summon builds can each compete in late-game content.

The studio continues to monitor underperforming skills and unintended synergies—particularly those that trivialize end-game bosses or break scaling systems. Players can expect additional adjustments on October 16, when the next major balance patch arrives, targeting Class Mods, Rep Kits, Shields, and Firmware.
