The Broken Token is a mysterious quest item in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, tied to a hidden storyline involving the Taoist at the Refugee Camp. While the game gives minimal context about what to do with it, the Broken Token holds significant narrative weight and unlocks dramatic consequences if used a certain way. This guide covers everything you need to know: how to get the Broken Token, where to use it, and what events it triggers.

What Is the Broken Token?
Broken Token
- Type: Valuable Quest Item
- Engraving: Inscribed with the Taoist name “Wuweizi,” this nearly shattered token hails from Zhenwu Temple.
- Use: Can be handed to a Taoist NPC at the Refugee Camp in Mt. Zhenwu.
- In-Game Lore: Rumored to summon divine generals and exorcise spirits, though its power is weakened due to damage.
How to Get the Broken Token
You’ll obtain the Broken Token during the mid-game as you explore Worship’s Rise and defeat one of the region’s major bosses.
Step-by-Step Location
1. Progress to the Bandit Cave Shrine: Found in the Worship’s Rise region, this shrine marks a key progression point along the main story path.
2. Defeat Blightweaver – Great Centipede
After using the shrine, proceed through the large cave entrance where you’ll face this boss.
- Blightweaver uses wide claw swipes and burrows underground to attack from below.
- The arena is surrounded by stone pillars that can briefly stun the boss if it crashes into them.
Tip: The pillars break after repeated hits, so use them early to land heavy damage while the boss is paralyzed.
3. Take the Elevator to Tower of Sacrifice: Once the boss is defeated, head toward the Tower of Sacrifice and ride the mining lift up to the next area.
4. Watch the Left Side Before Entering the Next Room: Before entering the door where He Youzai is located, look to your left. There’s a small glowing item on the ground—this is the Broken Token. Don’t miss it, as it can easily blend into the environment.
Where to Use the Broken Token
The token’s intended recipient is not accessible until you reach the third major region: Mt. Zhenwu.
Finding the Taoist at the Refugee Camp:
Start from the Battlefield Pass Shrine
- Begin from the “Battlefield Pass Shrine” in Mt. Zhenwu. This makes it easier to follow the route through the forest.
Head Left and Enter the Cave with the Summoner
- From the shrine, head left until you find a cave entrance. This path leads you to a Summoner enemy guarding an outdoor section.
Descend via Ladder to Reach the Refugee Camp
- Defeat the enemy, go down the slope, and use the ladder that leads to a bridge.
Don’t Enter the Camp Yet
- Instead of going right toward the Refugee Camp, keep moving forward and descend again to the Main Rebel Camp area.
Enter the Cave with the Wooden Wagon
- Inside the Rebel Camp, head left and enter a cave. Break the wooden wagon on the left, and continue upwards.
Locate the Tent with the Taoist
- At the top, you’ll find a tent containing the Taoist NPC. Speak to him and hand over the Broken Token.
What Happens After Giving the Broken Token
This quest doesn’t just end with an item handoff—it sets in motion a powerful story turn involving another major NPC.
Key Outcomes:
The Taoist Mentions the Underground Palace:
- He briefly hints at something called the Underground Palace and expresses concern over the token’s reappearance.
Triggering Huang Jian’e’s Response:
- If you haven’t already given the Trinity Bell to Huang Jian’e in Shu Sanctum, you can now speak to her and offer the Taoist Token instead.
Her Denial & Aggression:
- Huang Jian’e is shocked to see the token but denies ownership.
- After giving the token to the Taoist, rest at a Shrine. When you return, you’ll discover the Taoist has been murdered—Huang Jian’e is standing over his body, blaming you and turning hostile. This is a major turning point in her character arc.
You Must Defeat Her:
- In the ensuing fight, defeating her rewards you with:
- Zhenwu Robes
- Zhenwu Bracers
- Zhenwu Sandals
Alternate Location (Doomwillow Beach)
The Broken Token can also be found near the entrance to Doomwillow Beach in Worship’s Rise. It’s located close to some fencing by the river. However, the version tied to the Taoist side quest is primarily obtained after defeating the Blightweaver – Great Centipede in the Bandit Cave.
