Your love life doesn’t have to be a roll of the dice when it comes to Chance in Date Everything. This Date Everything Chance Romance Guide breaks down how to find him, conquer his G&G campaign, and unlock every possible ending- Love, Friends, and Hate.

Who Is Chance in Date Everything?
Chance is one of the most unique bachelors you’ll meet in Date Everything—he’s literally a living D20 die. Voiced by Matthew Mercer, Chance is the personification of tabletop role-playing passion, always eager to whisk you away into his favorite game: Graveyards and Gargoyles (G&G), the game’s take on Dungeons & Dragons.
He’s dateable character #60 in your Date-a-Dex, offering a nerdy, playful romance route that’s as much about rolling dice as it is about rolling with Chance’s enthusiastic vibes.

Where to Find Chance
Finding Chance can be surprisingly tricky, considering he’s always in the same spot. Head into the office on the ground floor of your house—the room left of the front door. Look at the left side of your desk, near your computer. There, nestled among books and papers, sits a D20 die. Put on your Dateviators and interact with it, and Chance will appear in all his hooded glory, ready to pull you into his G&G world.
Chance may also pop up in the background of other characters’ stories, adding extra flavor even if you’re not on his romance route.
How to Start Chance’s G&G Campaign
Chance’s romance route revolves entirely around playing his beloved G&G session. As soon as you meet him, he invites you to play. He’ll ask you to pick one of four classes:
- Troubadour (Bard)
- Wizard
- Warrior
- Rogue
While the broad story remains the same whichever class you choose, your chosen class changes your available actions during the campaign. Many guides, including this one, are written from the perspective of the Troubadour, but feel free to experiment!

Winning the G&G Session (Troubadour Route)
Chance’s campaign plays out like a mini D&D adventure, with dialogue choices determining your success. Here’s one proven path to win if you’re playing as the Troubadour:
When the session begins, you start with 50 Hit Points. If your HP reaches zero, you fail the adventure. Certain choices (like sassy responses) can gain you bonus HP, while others may risk losing it.
Early in the adventure, you can choose to sleep and recover 20 HP, helping you stay safe for upcoming challenges.
- Sass It Up Early
- If you have at least 25 Sass points, select the sass option when prompted (“WHO’S READY TO ROCK!”). This grants bonus HP.
- Toss a Coin
- Pay the bartender for their service.
- Check Out the Stranger
- Investigate the mysterious figure.
- Question Their Motives
- Ask, “What do you want with a simple singer?”
- Perform for the Crowd
- Give them a thumbs-up as you ascend the stairs.
- Offer Help
- Ask how you can assist when prompted.
- Explore Off the Path
- Take a detour to see what’s going on.
- Sing at the Knobgoblin
- Attack the creature with your musical prowess.
- Keep Moving
- Avoid resting unnecessarily.
- Bust Down Doors
- Kick open the door when faced with one.
When you face the Knobgoblins, choose to “Strike up the band.” When given a song choice, pick “Eardrums.” This ensures the best outcome.
- React to the King
- Choose “The King?!” to show your enthusiasm.
- Fight Back
- Dodge the king’s attacks.
When fighting the King, choose to Sing at him to deal 40 damage, helping ensure victory.
- Unleash Your Ultimate
- Use your strongest move when prompted.
Some additional lines you can choose during Chance’s campaign:
- “I wanna knock this Knobgoblin’s knob off!”
- “Let’s make ‘em go Night-Night!”
- “I start to throw sonic spells!”
- “I understand your insinuation and I am all for it.”
These don’t necessarily affect outcomes but enhance your roleplay and keep Chance happy.
If you follow these steps (or similar ones in other classes), you’ll win the session without losing all your Hit Points. Your adventure will end with a triumphant victory, saving the Queen and her son and earning Chance’s admiration.
How to Get All Chance’s Endings
Chance has three possible relationship outcomes, determined by how you behave during and after your G&G adventure.
Love Ending
To win Chance’s heart:
- Show genuine excitement about G&G.
- Stay in character and play enthusiastically.
- Succeed in the campaign.
After the adventure, Chance will hint at wanting something more than friendship. Respond positively—for example, choosing dialogue like “I understand the insinuation, and I want that too.” Doing so secures the Love ending, with Chance utterly smitten.
Friends Ending
If you’d prefer to keep things platonic, simply:
- Either fail parts of the G&G campaign (but still show interest), or…
- At the end, decline his flirtation gently. For instance, say, “Oh… this was just supposed to be a fun thing to do with friends!”
Chance will respect your choice and happily remain your friend.
Hate Ending
If you want a spicy, antagonistic ending:
- Mock G&G repeatedly.
- Break character or act disinterested.
- Fail the campaign spectacularly.
- Insult Chance whenever possible.
Chance will take your disdain personally, leading to the Hate ending. Interestingly, achieving this route unlocks a unique new dateable character afterward as a sort of consolation prize.
Chance’s SPECS Requirements
To “realize” Chance permanently (allowing him to live freely outside the game), you’ll need to achieve specific SPECS stats and have reached a Love or Friend ending with at least 10 characters:
- Smarts: 80
- Empathy: 60
- Charm: 80
- Sass: 30
Important: Once you “realize” Chance, he permanently leaves the house. Make sure you’re ready to say goodbye before confirming this choice!
Chance is a standout romance option in Date Everything thanks to his vibrant personality and fun G&G campaign. Whether you’re a TTRPG fan or simply appreciate a passionate partner, rolling the dice on Chance can be one of the game’s most rewarding romances.
So grab your Dateviators, choose your class wisely, and may your rolls always be natural 20s.
