Disney Dreamlight Valley: How to Unlock All Horses and Mounts

Mounts arrive in Disney Dreamlight Valley through the Wishblossom Ranch expansion, turning travel and exploration into something far more dynamic. Horses aren’t just cosmetic companions—each one carries a unique ability, contributes to the region’s puzzle-solving, and helps with tasks across the Valley once leveled up.

Starting Your First Mount: The Wishblossom Horse

Your first horse appears moments after you arrive at Wishblossom Ranch during A Wishful Invitation. Snow White leads you to a weakened Wishblossom hidden in a cave; speak to it, and your first customizable horse materializes.

From that point on, your Wishblossom Horses share a single progression path, which means:

  • All custom horses level together
  • All share the same Valley Skills
  • All respond to the same daily favorite foods

This first horse is also the only mount you can fully customize—everything from coat patterns to mane style, tail shape, trail effects, and saddle gear can be changed at the Stable.

Expanding Your Stable

Snow White’s questline Hold Your Horses teaches you how to craft Stable Repair Kits. Completing the three regional upgrades unlocks a total of four custom Wishblossom horses, one per stall.

The quests unlock gradually as you explore:

  • Hold Your Horses: Wishing Alps
  • Hold Your Horses: Glamour Gulch
  • Hold Your Horses: Pixie Acres

Your Wishblossom Horses’ special talent is pushing heavy objects—carts, boulders, or anything blocking narrow paths in the early areas.

How to Unlock Maximus

Maximus becomes available through the Wishblossom Ranch storyline as part of Crystal Cavern: Wishing Alps. This mission appears after completing the early quest chain:

  1. A Wishful Invitation
  2. Tales of a Broken Heart
  3. Unlocking Snow White
  4. Ghost Town
  5. Wheel Big Trouble
  6. Water Tower of Terror
  7. Equine Delicacies

When you reach the cavern, you’ll work with Tinker Bell to destroy three corrupted crystals. At the end, the restored Wishblossom of Hope releases Maximus.

Maximus’ Ability

Long Jump — essential for crossing broken bridges or large gaps. Any time you approach a broken bridge at a gallop, Maximus repairs it with Pixie Dust as he leaps.

How to Unlock Khan

Khan is tied to the second major cavern trial. Before you can reach him, you must help Snow White and Cruella through this sequence:

  • The Decay of Fashion
  • The De Vil Crash
  • The Skunk Rebellion

Completing these unlocks Crystal Cavern: Glamour Gulch. Inside the cavern, you’ll destroy another set of corrupted crystals and eventually meet the Wishblossom of Ambition, who releases Khan.

Khan’s Ability

Kick Down Barriers — wooden walls at first, then metal barriers once his skill upgrades at higher bond levels. This ability opens alternate routes across Glamour Gulch and helps unlock shortcuts.

How to Unlock Pegasus

Pegasus is the final major storyline mount, found in the Crystal Cavern linked to Pixie Acres. Reaching this point requires completing:

  • All prerequisites for Maximus and Khan
  • Tigger’s quests: Bounce Up, Never Down, The Balloon Family, and Fun! Fun! Fun!
  • Crystal Cavern: Pixie Acres

Inside this cavern, you’ll rely on abilities from all previously unlocked horses to solve multi-layered puzzles. Completing the trial restores the Wishblossom of Dreams, who brings Pegasus to life.

Pegasus’ Ability

Ride Wind Tunnels / Glide — sprint into a tunnel of air and Pegasus will lift you, letting you reach elevated ridges and new traversal paths unavailable to other mounts.

How to Unlock Sven

Sven is the only mount that does not come from Wishblossom Caverns. He is exclusive to the Deluxe Edition of the Wishblossom Ranch DLC.

To unlock him, complete:

  • Crystal Cavern: Wishing Alps
  • Then accept Kristoff’s short quest Reindeer Are Better Than People

The quest simply introduces Sven, asks you to care for him, ride him briefly, and perform a few small tasks.

Sven’s Ability

Sven functions like a Wishblossom Horse but with unique cosmetics and a Dream Style that accompanies the Deluxe Edition rewards.

How to Grow Your Mount Bond and Earn New Skills

Every mount benefits from higher bond levels. Leveling up unlocks:

  • Valley Skills (mining, watering, digging, harvesting, clearing thorns)
  • Upgrades to unique abilities
  • Cosmetic rewards and furniture items
  • Mane and tail styles (Wishblossom Horses)

You can increase bond by:

  • Riding
  • Jumping obstacles
  • Brushing and petting (once daily)
  • Feeding their three favorite foods of the day
  • Completing tasks while mounted
  • Using Valley Skills once unlocked

Horses also have a rare Horse Sparks state, triggered by feeding all three favorite foods, which temporarily boosts efficiency and rewards.
