Encrypted Cerebellum Risk of Rain 2: How to Get and Use It

The Alloyed Collective expansion adds a full end-game gauntlet to Risk of Rain 2, ending with a hidden showdown that many players completely miss on their first run. The Encrypted Cerebellum is the key that unlocks this secret path, but the game barely explains what it does—leaving most survivors confused after beating Solus Wing.

What the Encrypted Cerebellum Actually Does

The Encrypted Cerebellum is a special yellow-tier item that functions as a crafting ingredient, not a usable item.

Once you obtain it, the only way to progress toward the hidden boss is to transform it at the Computational Exchange using Chef.

The final goal is to convert it into an Exposed Cerebellum, which then activates the portal to the Hidden Realm: Neural Sanctum, where Solus Heart—the true final boss—waits.

How to Get the Encrypted Cerebellum

1. Reach Solus Wing

You must progress normally through the Alloyed Collective stages until you reach the climactic boss fight against Solus Wing. This fight is part of the main route—no special conditions required.

2. Defeat Solus Wing

Solus Wing drops the Encrypted Cerebellum every time, regardless of difficulty or artifacts. The drop is guaranteed, so you only need to clear the encounter once to obtain the item.

3. Enter Solus Wing’s Eye

After the fight, interact with the giant eye that appears. Doing so transports you to the Computational Exchange, a hidden realm containing Chef and a massive Solus construct.

This is where the real quest begins.

Where to Use the Encrypted Cerebellum

1. Find the Glitchy Wall

Inside the Computational Exchange, look for a shimmering, translucent wall. Pass through it to discover Chef—a robotic crafting unit reused from previous RoR2 events.

2. Meet Chef, the Combination Crafter

Chef allows you to combine specific items into new ones. Your task is to use Chef to turn the Encrypted Cerebellum into an Exposed Cerebellum.

How to Create the Exposed Cerebellum (Required for the Hidden Boss)

To craft the Exposed Cerebellum, you must offer two items:

  • The Encrypted Cerebellum
  • Any one of the following: Secondary Ingredients
    • Empathy Cores
    • Encrusted Key
    • Rusted Key
    • Prison Matrix
    • Orphaned Core
    • Sentry Key

All of these are supported combinations—choose whichever you already have. Once the items are submitted, Chef hands you the Exposed Cerebellum.

How to Use the Exposed Cerebellum

With the Exposed Cerebellum in hand, return to the center of the Computational Exchange. You’ll find a massive Solus unit—essentially a dormant machine waiting for an input.

  1. Offer the Item to the Solus Unit: Interact with the construct and place the Exposed Cerebellum inside.
  2. Activate the Encrypted Teleporter: The machine generates an Encrypted Teleporter beside it. This teleporter is your gateway to the next hidden realm.
  3. Enter Neural Sanctum: Passing through the portal takes you to Neural Sanctum, a surreal final arena where you battle:

Solus Heart – The True Final Boss

Solus Heart is significantly more challenging than Solus Wing, featuring multiple phases, chaotic arena changes, and some of the wildest visual effects in the expansion. This fight is required if you want to unlock several new Alloyed Collective skins and completion rewards.

Pro Tips for Players

  • Bring high mobility items—this arena is built to punish slow survivors.
  • On-kill sustain items like Leeching Seed or Harvester’s Scythe help you recover during add waves.
  • Heavy burst damage (Rebar Puncher, Brilliant Behemoth builds, Molten Perforator) is strong during vulnerability windows.
  • If you plan to craft with Chef consistently, picking up keys along your run raises your odds of having a matching ingredient ready.

The Encrypted Cerebellum looks useless at first, but it’s the most important progression item in the Alloyed Collective expansion. It’s the bridge between the standard final fight and the hidden end-game path that leads to Solus Heart and the true completion of the DLC.
