Furfrou, the stylish Poodle Pokémon first seen in Pokémon X and Y, returns in Pokémon Legends: Z-A with all its signature trims and a few new surprises. This Normal-type Pokémon is known for its customizable hairstyles — or “Trims” — that players can unlock through specific side missions around Lumiose City.

If you’ve spotted one roaming the Wild Zones or heard about Lumiose’s salon scene, here’s everything you need to know to unlock every Furfrou Trim in Pokémon Legends Z-A.
Where to Find Furfrou in Pokémon Legends Z-A
Furfrou doesn’t appear early in the game. You’ll first encounter it around Wild Zone 11 and Wild Zone 17, where Alpha Furfrou can also spawn. Once you’ve caught one (or several), you can begin the process of unlocking all available trims by completing a sequence of side missions tied to an NPC named Mirte.
Mirte is found in Jaune Sector 6, just north of Wild Zone 11. Speak to her to begin your trimming journey.
Side Mission 047: Becoming a Furfrou Trimmer
Your first task to unlock new hairstyles begins with Side Mission 047 – “Becoming a Furfrou Trimmer.”
Mirte will ask for your help training her Scyther to perform the move Slash.
How to Complete the Mission
- Make sure you have a Pokémon in your party that knows Slash.
- Pokémon that can use this move include Scyther, Gallade, Gible, Skarmory, or Charmander’s evolutions.
- Use Slash on the Substitute Doll next to Mirte.
- Return to her to complete the task.
Rewards
- ₽800
- Revive ×1
- Exp. Candy S ×3
- Unlocks the ability to style Furfrou
After completing this quest, you’ll gain access to the first three trims:
- Heart Trim (light pink)
- Star Trim (blue)
- Diamond Trim (orange)
Each hairstyle costs 500 Poké Dollars, and you can change styles as often as you like.
Side Mission 062: Becoming a Pro Furfrou Trimmer
Once you advance further in the main storyline, Mirte will offer another challenge called Side Mission 062 – “Becoming a Pro Furfrou Trimmer.”
This time, you must show her Scyther how to use Razor Leaf by attacking the Substitute Doll again.
Recommended Pokémon
You’ll need a Pokémon capable of learning Razor Leaf, such as:
- Bulbasaur
- Chikorita
- Florges
- Leafeon
New Trims Unlocked
Completing this mission adds three more trims to your collection:
- Matron Trim (dark pink)
- Dandy Trim (green)
- Debutante Trim (yellow)
Side Mission 093: Becoming a Peerless Furfrou Trimmer
The final step to mastering Furfrou grooming is Side Mission 093 – “Becoming a Peerless Furfrou Trimmer.”
Mirte’s goal is now perfection, and she needs your help to demonstrate the move Psycho Cut.
What You’ll Need
Use a Psychic-type Pokémon capable of learning Psycho Cut, such as:
- Gallade
- Kadabra
- Gardevoir
Once you complete this final mission, all remaining hairstyles will be unlocked.
