Rockstar Games has rolled out a surprise visual and performance boost for Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced on PC. As part of its August 2025 update, the game now supports NVIDIA’s DLSS 4 technology, delivering sharper visuals, higher frame rates, and improved efficiency—over a decade after GTA 5 first hit the shelves.

The update, released on August 14 and weighing in at around 1.19 GB, applies to the Enhanced edition of the game and requires the latest NVIDIA driver to unlock all features.

A Major Upgrade for the Enhanced Edition
The Enhanced version of GTA 5, also known as Expanded and Enhanced, first launched for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in March 2022 before making its way to PC in March 2025. This upgraded edition brought ray tracing, faster load times, and better audio to the long-running title.
The latest patch adds DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation to both the single-player campaign and GTA Online. NVIDIA claims that on RTX 50-series GPUs at 4K with maximum settings, this new DLSS 4 implementation can boost frame rates by an average of 3.9 times.
GTA 5 DLSS 4 vs. DLSS 3 – What’s New in the PC Update?
DLSS 3 could generate one AI-powered frame between rendered frames, but DLSS 4 can insert up to three, using a more advanced transformer-based AI model instead of the older convolutional neural networks. This change means:
- Cleaner details – Finer elements like fences and wires are rendered with greater clarity.
- Lower VRAM usage – DLSS 4 can use up to 30% less video memory than DLSS 3.
- Performance boosts – Ray Reconstruction and AI-generated pixels help improve both image sharpness and lighting accuracy, especially in ray-traced shadows and reflections.
Upscaling with DLSS 4 works on RTX 20-series GPUs and newer, but Multi-Frame Generation is exclusive to the RTX 50-series.

GTA 5 DLSS 4 PC Update and New GTA Online Drift Week Content
Alongside the DLSS upgrade, Rockstar introduced new GTA Online content as part of its Drift Week event. Players can enjoy:
- Drift Tuning upgrades for four cars: Bravado Gauntlet Hellfire, Annis Hardy, Vapid Dominator FX, and Dinka Chavos V6.
- Free limited-time vehicle: Declasse Drift Walton L35.
- Upcoming content includes a brand-new Survival mode, Halloween-themed events, and a GTA$ giveaway later in the year.
How to Get the GTA 5 DLSS 4 PC Update
The DLSS 4 upgrade is exclusive to GTA 5 Enhanced on PC. Players with the older PC version can upgrade for free, but must transfer their online profile.
Transfers are only possible from PC to PC; console to PC Enhanced upgrades are not supported. Some accounts may also be restricted from transferring if they have a history of disciplinary actions or “illegitimate” progress.
To enable DLSS 4, update your GeForce drivers, open the in-game Graphics Settings, select DLSS 4 under Upscaling, and toggle Multi-Frame Generation if you have an RTX 50 GPU.
