Hell Is Us Waylaid Quest Walkthrough: How to Save the Peacekeepers

The Waylaid quest in Hell Is Us is one of the most impactful Good Deeds you can complete. It asks you to help two stranded ON Peacekeepers in the Acasa Marshes, each of whom desperately needs supplies to survive. Completing it requires exploration across multiple regions, and timing is critical—if you delay until after the third Keystone, both soldiers will already be dead.

How to Unlock the Waylaid Quest

Waylaid doesn’t appear in your quest log immediately. Instead, you must first encounter the two Peacekeepers—Roho Katungi and Typhon Guile—beneath a monolith in Acasa Marshes.

  • Roho Katungi: Needs a working Satellite Radio to contact his unit.
  • Typhon Guile: Suffers from an illness and requires Metformin Pills.

Picking up either item (Metformin or the Satellite Radio) formally activates the Good Deed. Both items must eventually be delivered to finish the quest.

Step 1: Locate the Peacekeepers in Acasa Marshes

  • Travel south of the Village of Jova toward the Lymbic Monolith.
  • Beneath the structure, you’ll find the Peacekeepers hiding from Lymbic Entities.
  • Speak to both men to learn about their needs.

Take note: this area also hides a Lymbic Door (part of the Western Monument Mystery) and a sconce linked to the Enlightenment Mystery, so it’s worth exploring while you’re here.

Step 2: Acquire the Satellite Radio

The Satellite Radio is located in the Lethe – Ministry of Cultural Primacy.

  1. Fast travel to Lethe (available after Act 1).
  2. From the basement parking (P2), loot a corpse near an ambulance to obtain the Keycard – Ministry.
  3. Head upstairs near Marton Ralst’s office and look for a locked room past the Coronation Painting.
  4. Use the keycard to open the door, then loot the corpse by the opposite doorway to secure the Satellite Radio.

Optional: before leaving the Ministry, look for Woman’s Clothing and deliver it to a trapped ON Peacekeeper in the building. This prevents her death in a future visit.

Step 3: Acquire the Metformin Pills

The Metformin is hidden in Talju, accessible starting in Act 2.

  1. From the Town Hall entrance, head right and then left toward a bridge marked by a large burning tree. Loot the corpse here to obtain the Key – Pharmacy.
  2. Return to Town Hall, slip through to the back of the Pharmacy, and unlock the rear entrance.
  3. Inside one of the clinic bedrooms, you’ll find the Pill Bottle – Metformin.

Note: You can only access the back entrance once Caspian Fran’s storyline (part of the Keystone of Terror investigation) concludes. Clearing this path also ties into the Light in the Dark Good Deed.

Step 4: Return to the Peacekeepers

With both items secured, head back to Acasa Marshes:

  • Trade the Metformin with Typhon Guile. He’ll thank you for saving his life.
  • Trade the Satellite Radio with Roho Katungi. Although no one answers his call, he appreciates the effort.

This completes the Good Deed and determines their fate moving forward.

Quest Outcomes

The results of Waylaid depend entirely on when you complete it relative to the main story:

ScenarioOutcome
Completed before the Third KeystoneBoth Peacekeepers survive and later appear in the Village of Jova.
Completed after the Third KeystoneBoth men are found dead beneath the monolith.

If you want the best result, prioritize this Good Deed before progressing too far into Act 2.

Rewards

Once both soldiers are saved and the quest ends, return to the Watcher’s Nest and speak with Gildas Brom to receive your rewards:

  • Amine Prism – Rho
  • Relentless Assault (ability upgrade)

Best Strategies to Complete Waylaid

  • Don’t delay—complete Waylaid before chasing the third Keystone.
  • Handle Light in the Dark in Talju before entering the Pharmacy to ensure you save all survivors.
  • Keep an eye on mysteries (Lymbic Door and sconce) near the Marshes to avoid backtracking later.

The Waylaid Good Deed is more than a side quest—it’s a test of timing, exploration, and decision-making in Hell Is Us. By saving Roho and Typhon, you not only secure valuable rewards but also preserve two characters who would otherwise be lost to the war-torn world. Play Now!
