How to Complete A Puzzlement Quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The A Puzzlement quest introduced in Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Title Update 1.1.6 sends you on a short but intriguing investigation involving ancient technology, hidden glyphs, and a sealed Isu structure. While the quest itself is simple, understanding how the door puzzle works and what you’re meant to track can be confusing at first.

How to Start the A Puzzlement Quest

You can begin the quest as soon as you reach Wakasa. Near a secluded point in the region, you’ll find Kane and Kinu standing beside an unusual sealed doorway covered in unfamiliar symbols.

Approach them and start a conversation. Regardless of whether you trust their motives, the duo will eventually hand you a unique Isu-related item and ask for help deciphering the markings on the door.

This interaction officially begins the A Puzzlement quest.

Step 1 – Equip the Riddle Scroll Beacon

After the cutscene, you’ll receive the Riddle Scroll Beacon, a Legendary Trinket tied directly to the quest. Besides offering stat bonuses, this artifact has a critical function: it detects glyphs hidden in the environment.

Kane mentions that the beacon reacted strongly near a swamp. This is your lead.

Equip the trinket and follow the quest marker to Omi.

Step 2 – Follow the Beacon to the First Glyph

When you reach the swampy area, pay attention to the Riddle Scroll Beacon—it begins glowing as you get closer to the target.

Keep moving until you spot a glowing symbol carved into a rock, which is the glyph you’re meant to find. This is your key to understanding how the Isu door works.

Interact with the glyph to complete the discovery step.

Step 3 – Return to the Isu Door

Once you’ve inspected the glyph, head back to Kane and Kinu.

The Isu door now displays the same glowing symbol you found at the swamp, confirming the beacon’s purpose. Speak to the duo once more to finish the A Puzzlement quest.

This completes the introductory section of the puzzle storyline—but the door itself will not open yet.
