Destiny Rising brings a fresh chapter to the Destiny universe, taking place long before the original games. As a new Lightbearer, your journey will be filled with challenges, but tackling missions alongside friends makes the experience far more rewarding. Here’s a complete guide on how to connect, add, and play with friends in Destiny Rising.

Before you can invite or join friends, you need to progress past the opening section. Destiny Rising requires players to complete the tutorial missions and reach the main city hub before friend features unlock. If you’ve just started or are rerolling your account, finish those early quests first.
Where to Find the Friend Menu
To enter multiplayer, open the friend menu. There are two ways to do this:
- Mouse and Keyboard: Press Enter to bring up the chat box, then navigate to the second icon on the right, which shows two character silhouettes.
- Interface Button: On-screen, look for the chat box icon in the bottom-right corner.
From here, you can see your fireteam, nearby players, or chat directly with friends.
How to Search and Add Players

To add friends, you’ll need their Username or User ID (UID):
- Open the friend menu.
- Enter their name or UID in the search bar.
- Select their profile and send a friend request.
Your UID is always visible in the bottom-right corner of your screen, making it easy to share. For faster sharing, you can also copy it directly:
- Press TAB or select the Ghost icon in the upper left.
- Open your Account menu by clicking the arrow near your character’s name.
- Find your UID in the upper left corner—use the copy button to grab it quickly.
Another option is generating an invite code under the Special Offers → Spreading Light section, which you can send directly to friends.
How to Invite Friends Into Fireteams
Once friends are added, you can form or join fireteams to take on missions together:
- Inviting Friends: Open the friend menu, select their name, and choose the invite option.
- Accepting Invites: When you receive an invitation, a prompt will appear—accepting it places you in their fireteam.
- Nearby Players: If you’re near another Guardian, you can also add them quickly from the same menu.
Fireteams make cooperative gameplay smoother, whether you’re tackling story missions, farming resources, or exploring.
Why You Can’t Add Friends in Destiny Rising
If you’re unable to add or join friends, keep these points in mind:
- Tutorial Not Finished: You must reach the main hub city first.
- Crossplay Restrictions: Some features may be limited depending on platform or regional servers.
- UID Accuracy: Double-check the UID before entering—it must match exactly.
