Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Storybook Vale expansion introduces several iconic characters — and among the most anticipated is Princess Aurora. However, unlocking her as a resident is a lengthy journey spanning dozens of quests, puzzles, and thrilling story beats. If you’re determined to welcome Sleeping Beauty to your Valley, here’s a complete step-by-step guide on how to do it.

Pre-Requisites to Unlock Aurora
Before you can access Aurora’s quests, you must progress significantly through the Storybook Vale expansion. Here’s what you need done first:
- Complete all Chapter One quests of Storybook Vale, including unlocking areas like the Bind, Mythopia, and The Fallen Fortress.
- Unlock characters like Merida, Flynn Rider, Hades, and Maleficent.
- Finish The Unwritten Realms storyline.
- Complete The Ink-Stained World questline.
- Reach at least moderate friendship levels with other Storybook Vale residents.
- You’ll also need to reach at least Friendship Level 7 with Flynn Rider before he’ll offer the quest that leads you toward finding Aurora.
Once these milestones are met, Aurora’s story begins unfolding.
Step 1 — Start The Missing Princess Quest
Aurora’s unlock questline starts with The Missing Princess.
- Speak to Flynn Rider, who shares that Aurora has vanished.
- Find Aurora’s diary pages in three specific locations:
- In The Bind: Far south-west edge, on the western side of the bridge, near a small waterfall, dig spot.
- By Maleficent’s Castle: Far left side of the castle entrance, near water, lying on the ground.
- In Elysian Fields: Right side of the large fishing spot, appears as a digging spot.
Collecting these reveals Aurora spoke with the Lorekeeper before disappearing.
Step 2 — Complete A Hero Of Ink And Paper
You’ll need to prove yourself worthy of entering the same realm Aurora vanished into.
Before collecting the Fairy Tale Books, you’ll first find Aurora’s Note hidden under the main bridge in The Bind. Enter the hidden chamber you unlocked earlier in the story and pick up Aurora’s Note from the floor.
After finding Aurora’s Note, you’ll need to find two pieces of the Fairy Tale Book:
- The Fallen Fortress — Near the Fairy Tale Trial gate, look in the left-side ruins for a blue-green book on the ground.
- Mount Olympus — Use the wishing well, then go west toward the windmills. Climb the ramps and grab the second book in the alcove.
Once retrieved, the Lorekeeper tasks you with crafting the Hero of the Vale costume.
Materials for the Hero of the Vale Costume
- Flowers:
- 4 Yellow Tale Cone Flowers
- 4 Blue Tale Cone Flowers
- 4 Olive Green Tale Cone Flowers
- 4 Beige Tale Cone Flowers
- Snippets:
- 4 Blue Bird Snippets (The Bind)
- 4 Red Demon Snippets (The Statue’s Shadow)
- 4 Green Frog Snippets (Wild Woods, Teapot Falls)
- 10 Posidonia — fishable in Mythopia’s open water
- Fabric scraps from villagers like Merida, Flynn, Hades, and Maleficent
Keep in mind that not all flowers and snippets are available in every biome. For example, Red Demon Snippets do not appear in the Elysian Fields of Mythopia. Check your collections tab for locations.
Use a crafting station (like the one in your Storybook Vale house) to craft the Hero of the Vale costume. At first, it appears as a furniture item, so you’ll need to take it back to the Lorekeeper to transform it into a wearable outfit.
Craft the costume, wear it, and interact with the tapestry to progress.
Step 3 — Complete The Three Fairy Trials
After entering the tapestry, you’ll face trials from the Three Fairies: Merryweather, Fauna, and Flora.
All of these puzzles are solved using Furniture Mode, so be prepared to enter edit mode frequently.
Trial of Virtue (Merryweather)
- Retrieve:
- Dragon’s Flame (found behind some items in the room).
- Knight’s Arm (hidden behind a secret bookshelf compartment).
- Rearrange the shadow scene so the knight’s shield blocks the dragon’s flame.
- Make sure the dragon is placed close enough for the alignment to register properly—it can be slightly fiddly to get correct.
- Obtain the Shield of Virtue.
Trial of Truth (Fauna)
- Arrange shadows:
- Place a birdcage around a bird silhouette.
- Put Mickey Mouse ears on a lion statue to soften its shadow.
- Cook meals:
- Rabbit Meal: Wheat, Barley, Carrot (Barley Salad)
- Pegasus Meal: Lettuce, Tomato, Carrot, Cucumber (Carrot Salad)
- Feed the critters and earn the Sword of Truth.
Trial of Song (Flora)
- Position dancers and instruments in the following order:
- Left side: Piano, Dancer, Cello.
- Right side: Harp, Dancer, Lute.
- Ensure one dancer is positioned between the lute and harp for the shadow pattern to complete successfully.
- Receive the Cap of Song.
Step 4 — Begin The Tales That Bind Quest
Equipped with your three trial relics, speak to the fairies, who finally let you pass through to meet Aurora.
Shortly after meeting Aurora, the Lorekeeper intervenes, revealing they’ve been plotting to erase both Aurora and your character from existence. Aurora insists on helping you stop them, sending you into the Unwritten Realms.
Step 5 — Confront The Lorekeeper
Inside the Unwritten Realms:
- Speak with the Lorekeeper.
- Chase and catch magical creatures called Snippets:
- 3 Blue Bird Snippets
- 3 Rainbow Frog Snippets
- 2 Evil Demon Snippets
Each set of snippets must be caught to push the Lorekeeper to the next stage.
Step 6 — Solve The Story Of Dreamlight Valley Puzzle
Once the snippets are collected:
- Complete the Story of Dreamlight Valley tapestry puzzle.
- Focus on placing corner pieces first for easier solving.
- After completing the tapestry, speak to the Lorekeeper again to finalize the resolution before returning to Storybook Vale.
This reveals the Lorekeeper’s hidden truths and ultimately convinces her there’s still hope for redemption.
Step 7 — Place Aurora’s House
After defeating the Lorekeeper:
- Return to Storybook Vale.
- Place Aurora’s cottage anywhere you’d like via Scrooge McDuck’s building sign.
- Pay 5,000 Star Coins to complete construction.
Aurora’s house can be placed in any biome, including Eternity Isle, and can be freely moved afterwards.
Once placed, Aurora officially joins your Valley as a permanent resident!
