Marathon Confirms Weapon Charms for Xbox and Steam, Not Just PlayStation

Marathon is no longer limiting in-game cosmetic rewards to PlayStation players. Developer Bungie has confirmed that Xbox and Steam players will also receive weapon charms, easing concerns about platform favoritism ahead of launch.

Marathon Confirms Weapon Charms for Xbox and Steam, Not Just PlayStation

PlayStation Plus Charms Revealed First

Bungie initially revealed that PlayStation Plus members on PS5 will receive exclusive weapon charms inspired by:

  • Helldivers 2 (For Freedom Weapon Charm)
  • Death Stranding 2 (Battle Guitar Weapon Charm)
  • Ghost of Yōtei (Onryō Weapon Charm)

These charms will be available to redeem through the PlayStation Store when Marathon launches on March 5, 2026.

Bungie Responds to Platform Concerns

After players questioned whether Xbox and PC users would miss out, Bungie responded directly on social media, confirming that weapon charms are also planned for Steam and Xbox players. While Bungie has not revealed the exact designs yet, the studio made it clear that other platforms will receive their own cosmetic rewards.

What Xbox and PC Players Might Get

Bungie has not shared specific details about non-PlayStation charms. However, speculation is already growing:

  • Xbox players could see platform-themed or legacy Bungie-inspired cosmetics
  • Steam players may receive PC-focused or neutral crossover charms

For now, Bungie says it will share more details closer to launch.

A Shift From Sony’s Usual Playbook

Marathon’s approach stands out compared to traditional Sony-backed releases. Instead of limiting perks to one ecosystem, Marathon will launch simultaneously on:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • PC (Steam)

This cross-platform strategy signals a broader push to keep all player bases engaged, especially in the competitive extraction-shooter space.

Server Slam and Launch Timeline

Bungie is also preparing players for hands-on access:

  • Server Slam test: February 26 to March 2, 2026
  • Full launch: March 5, 2026

With cross-platform rewards confirmed and early interest building, Marathon is entering its final stretch with stronger momentum than earlier test phases.

Marathon is not locking meaningful cosmetic content behind a single platform. Xbox and Steam players will receive weapon charms of their own, reinforcing Bungie’s message that no platform is being left behind as launch approaches.
