How to Unlock Mystery Gift in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
You won’t see the Mystery Gift option right at the start of the game. It unlocks automatically once you:
- Reach your first Pokémon Centre.
- This normally takes around 90 minutes of story progression.
- The Poké Portal becomes available afterward, which contains the Mystery Gift menu.
This is the earliest point where you can start redeeming codes.
How to Redeem Mystery Gift Codes
Once the Poké Portal is unlocked, follow these steps:
- Open the main menu in Scarlet or Violet.
- Select Poké Portal.
- Choose Mystery Gift.
- Pick one of the four options:
- Get via Internet – retrieves global internet-based gifts
- Get with Code / Password – enter your code manually
- Check Mystery Gifts – review everything you’ve claimed
- Check Poké Portal News – see official announcements
- If redeeming with a code, enter the code exactly as written.
- Wait for the download to complete, and your rewards will appear in-game.
Note: You do not need a Nintendo Switch Online membership, but you do need an internet connection.
