How to Get Fuel in Resident Evil Requiem (RE9) – Gas Can & Generator Guide

If you’re exploring East Raccoon City in Resident Evil Requiem, you will eventually hit a roadblock: generators that need fuel. You cannot progress certain story objectives or unlock key areas without powering them up.

How to Get Fuel in Resident Evil Requiem (RE9) – Gas Can & Generator Guide

This guide explains exactly where to find the gas can, how to refill it, and where to use generator fuel in RE9 so you can move forward without wasting time.

Where to Find the Gas Can in Resident Evil Requiem

You get generator fuel from the gas station opposite Cedarbrook Apartments in East Raccoon City.

However, you cannot access it immediately.

Step 1: Progress Until You Unlock the Street Area

Before you can reach the gas station:

  1. Defeat the giant spider.
  2. Reach the BSAA camp.
  3. Get the Cedarbrook Apartments Key.
  4. Restore power in the underground parking garage using two batteries.
  5. Exit back onto the street.

Once you reach the street beyond the crater, you will see the locked gas station directly north.

Step 2: Enter the Gas Station

The front gate is locked. Do this instead:

  1. Look to the right side of the station.
  2. Shoot the yellow strap holding the folded ladder.
  3. Climb the ladder.
  4. Walk across the wreckage/scaffolding.
  5. Drop into the gas station forecourt.

Kill the zombie near the pumps, then enter the shop area.

At the back of the building, you will find:

  • An empty generator
  • An empty Gas Can sitting nearby

Pick up the Gas Can.

How to Refill the Gas Can in Resident Evil Requiem

As soon as you grab the Gas Can, prepare for a major fight.

Gas Station Ambush Tips

  • A zombie throws an explosive barrel.
  • Fire spreads across the forecourt.
  • Multiple zombies attack at once.
  • A chainsaw enemy joins the fight.
  • Later, an armored chainsaw zombie appears.

Survival tips:

  • Prioritize chainsaw enemies first.
  • Shoot legs on armored enemies to stagger them.
  • Use fire to funnel zombies into groups.
  • Grab the chainsaw if possible.
  • Use grenades if overwhelmed.

Clear every enemy before attempting to refill.

Step 3: Refill the Gas Can

After the fight:

  1. Go to the fenced area at the back of the station.
  2. Locate the large fuel tanker.
  3. Turn the red valve wheel.
  4. Interact with the nozzle to fill the Gas Can.

You now have Gas Can with Fuel.

Important: You only need to refill once. The fuel lasts for every required generator.

All Generator Locations in Resident Evil Requiem

You will use fuel in three main locations:

1. Gas Station Door Generator

Location: Inside the station near where you found the gas can.

Powering it:

  • Opens the gate.
  • Gives you direct street access.

2. Construction Site Generator

Location: West of the gas station.

Powering it:

  • Opens the construction site.
  • Unlocks access to the crane.
  • Connects to subway shortcuts.

3. Logistics Warehouse Rooftop Generator

Location: Roof near the detonator relay part.

Powering it:

  • Activates a zipline.
  • Opens path toward Willis Tower.
  • Advances main story progression.

After powering the final generator, the Gas Can automatically disappears from your inventory.

Should You Power the Bridge Generator?

Near the crater in the middle of the road, you can also power a generator that lowers a bridge. It is not mandatory, but it makes navigation across East Raccoon City much easier.

Use it if you want faster movement between zones.

Fuel plays a critical role in Resident Evil Requiem, and you cannot treat it as an optional side objective. Generator fuel directly controls your progression through East Raccoon City. You need it to access detonator parts required for the main mission, unlock key story paths blocked by powered gates, and reach rooftop areas that open new traversal routes.

Fuel also allows you to explore optional containers and hidden sections that contain valuable resources. On top of that, powering certain generators improves overall map traversal by creating shortcuts and reconnecting separated zones. Without fuel, critical pathways remain locked, and story progression comes to a complete stop. Play Now!
