Silent Hill f hides many mysteries in the fog, but few are as rewarding as uncovering the Sacred Sword. More than just a powerful weapon, this blade ties directly into multiple endings and carries unique gameplay mechanics. If you’re diving into New Game Plus and want to unlock every secret the game offers, here’s how to find and purify the Sacred Sword.

What Makes the Sacred Sword Special?
Unlike standard weapons, the Sacred Sword has its own dedicated slot in your inventory, meaning you don’t need to replace any of your current gear. It comes with a unique moveset, can counter attacks mid-combo, and blocks while Focusing without rooting you in place.
The most important difference is its durability system. The Sacred Sword never truly breaks. When its durability depletes, it becomes temporarily unusable but regains strength as you fight with other weapons. This effectively makes it the only permanent Real World weapon in Silent Hill f.

The catch? To earn it, you must locate five hidden Jizo statues and make the correct offerings.
Step One: Locating the Great Cedar Tree
Your journey begins at the Great Cedar Tree (sometimes called the Divine Tree), south of Shu’s house and near a shrine. In your first playthrough, you’ll see it during the “Head to Shu’s house” objective. On New Game Plus, visiting this tree marks it on your map. After completing the offerings at all five Jizo statues, return here to claim the sword.
Step Two: Finding All Five Jizo Statues and Offerings
Each Jizo statue represents one of the five elements—Earth, Water, Wood, Fire, and Metal. You must pair each with its offering before the sword can be unlocked.
1. Earth Statue
- Location: Near a red postbox and bicycle down the hill from Hinako’s house.
- Offering: The Faded Bride Doll, found in the locked residence above the statue. In NG+, the house is accessible and hides the doll inside a cupboard.
2. Water Statue
- Location: On the northeast path north of the rice fields, en route to Rinko’s house. Look for a small elevated area near Sakuko’s shrine entrance.
- Offering: The Rusted Flask, resting outside Sakuko’s family shrine on the left path at the split.
3. Wood Statue
- Location: South-east of the settlement just before reaching Ebisugaoka Middle School.
- Offering: The Broken Japanese Geta Sandals, found on the north side of the collapsed bridge where Shu and Rinko appear across the gap.
4. Fire Statue
- Location: On the path toward Shu’s house, tucked near a wooden gate by the Divine Tree.
- Offering: The Cracked Hibachi Brazier, located behind Shu’s house next to the small shed with the Otherworld flower on its roof.
5. Metal Statue
- Location: Behind a two-story house north of Shu’s residence, lit by a nearby lamppost on the stairwell.
- Offering: Dad’s Old Kitchen Knife, embedded in a tree behind another nearby house.
Once all five offerings are placed, return to the Great Cedar Tree to trigger a cutscene where Hinako claims the Sacred Sword.
Step Three: Purifying the Sword (Optional)
The sword carries a dark presence, and players can choose to purify it by completing the Crimson Waters puzzle:
- Solve the puzzle in the Hermitage of Crimson Water during your Otherworld visit. This involves ringing the Earth, Water, and Wood bells in sequence, timed with the sound of the shishi-odoshi (bamboo water spout).
- Afterward, visit the Inari Shrine north of the Great Cedar Tree. Place the Sacred Sword into the crimson water basin to purge it.
Note: Purification removes the sword’s special mechanics and durability system, turning it into a standard medium weapon that can fully break. However, this step is essential for unlocking the Ebisugaoka In Silence ending.
Why You Need the Sacred Sword in Silent Hill f
The Sacred Sword is required for two major endings—The Fox Wets Its Tail and Ebisugaoka In Silence. If you already achieved one, your progress carries forward into later playthroughs. That means securing the sword not only strengthens your arsenal but also expands your access to Silent Hill f’s deepest story routes.
