A new leak has once again sparked speculation that Starfield may finally arrive on PlayStation 5. While the game originally launched as an Xbox and PC exclusive, multiple reports now suggest a PlayStation version could release sometime in 2026.

The latest information comes from a retailer listing that appeared online recently, renewing discussion among players who have been waiting for Bethesda’s sci-fi RPG to expand beyond Microsoft platforms.
Retailer Listing Points to Possible PS5 Launch Date
A Portuguese online retailer reportedly listed a PS5 version of Starfield with a potential launch date of April 7, 2026. The listing even allowed players to place the game in their cart for pre-order, though the game has not appeared on the official PlayStation Store yet.
According to the listing, the game would sell for roughly €49.99 (around $57 USD). If the information proves accurate, it would represent a significant price drop compared to the original Xbox launch price.
However, this information should still be treated cautiously. Retailer listings sometimes appear early due to internal placeholder data or speculative release dates.
Earlier Leak Predicted the Same Date
Interestingly, the April 2026 date matches a previous leak from February, which claimed that both the Standard and Premium Editions of the game would release on PlayStation on that same day.
That earlier report also suggested the Premium Edition would launch without early access privileges on PS5, which were included in the original Xbox release.
Multiple insiders repeated the same release window, strengthening speculation that the PS5 version could already be in development.
Starfield PS5 Release Would Be Huge for PlayStation Players
When Starfield launched on September 6, 2023, it became one of Microsoft’s biggest exclusive RPG releases in years. The game came from Bethesda Game Studios, the studio behind major franchises like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4.
Despite massive hype and a major marketing push, the game received mixed player reactions after launch. Critics highlighted several issues, including:
- Repetitive planetary exploration
- Limited enemy AI behavior
- Bugs and technical glitches
- A story that some players found underwhelming
Even so, the game attracted millions of players across Xbox and PC platforms and remains one of Bethesda’s biggest recent projects.
Bethesda Teases Upcoming Starfield Updates
While rumors about the PS5 version continue, Bethesda has hinted that more news about Starfield is coming soon.
In a recent message responding to player feedback, the studio said it plans to share additional information about the game in the near future. The statement suggests that Starfield’s development roadmap is still ongoing.
Some insiders believe the PS5 version could arrive alongside a major update or expansion, possibly bringing technical improvements and additional content to the game.
Despite multiple leaks and insider reports, neither Microsoft nor Bethesda has officially confirmed a PlayStation version of Starfield.
However, the gaming industry has recently seen several previously Xbox-exclusive titles expand to other platforms. If that trend continues, Starfield eventually arriving on PlayStation would not be surprising.
For now, PS5 players will need to wait for an official announcement before celebrating.
