Mining drives every part of progression in The Forge, so choosing the right pickaxe dramatically affects how fast you farm ores, unlock new regions, and craft end-game gear. While the game offers a full lineup of tools—from starter-tier metals to late-game magical picks—not all of them are worth your gold.

How Pickaxe Stats Work in The Forge
Before diving into rankings, it helps to understand which stats matter and why:
- Mining Power – Determines which rocks and ore tiers you can break.
- Mining Speed – Positive values make each hit faster; negative values slow your rhythm.
- Luck Boost – Increases chances of rolling rare ores and high-value drops.
- Rune Slots – More slots = more permanent upgrades you can stack.
These four attributes define the meta position of each pickaxe and how smoothly it carries you through the game’s regions.
S+ Tier – Late-Game Dominators
These pickaxes are the strongest options in the current version and stay relevant even after you reach the deepest regions.
| Pickaxe | Stats | How to Get |
|---|---|---|
| Demonic Pickaxe | Power: 175 Speed: -15% Luck: +47.5% Runes: 3 | Volcanic Depths (Behind Demonic Door) |
| Arcane Pickaxe | Power: 115 Speed: +10% Luck: +50% Runes: 3 | Fallen Angel’s Cave (Bard Quest) |

Demonic Pickaxe
175 Power, –15% Speed, +47.5% Luck, 3 Runes
Location: Volcanic Depths (Behind the Demonic Door)
The single strongest pickaxe in raw power. While its mining speed takes a slight hit, the massive Mine Power, high luck, and three rune slots make it the ultimate end-game pick. If your goal is maximum damage against high-tier rocks, this is the final destination.
Arcane Pickaxe
115 Power, +10% Speed, +50% Luck, 3 Runes
Location: Fallen Angel’s Cave (Bard Quest)
Arcane trades some power for exceptional speed and the highest base luck boost in the game. With three rune slots, it becomes the best farming pickaxe for rare resources. Its fast swing speed makes it extremely smooth to use in long sessions.
Magma Pickaxe
135 Power, 0% Speed, +46% Luck, 2 Runes
Location: Ashen Passage (Forgotten Kingdom)
A strong and straightforward heavy hitter with excellent Mine Power and a reliable luck bonus. It falls slightly behind Arcane and Demonic largely due to having only two rune slots.

Mythril Pickaxe
80 Power, 0% Speed, +43% Luck, 2 Runes
Location: Miner Fred’s Shop (Forgotten Kingdom)
This is the main mid-game breakthrough pickaxe. Mythril lets you mine Basalt Veins, opening access to deeper content. It’s also far more affordable than top-tier picks, making it ideal for transitioning into late-game farming.

Recommended Pickaxe Progression Path
This path minimizes wasted gold and guides you smoothly into the strongest picks.
1. Stonewake’s Cross (Early Region)
Start → Iron → Platinum / Stonewake’s
Start with the free Stone Pickaxe.
Buy Iron to stabilize early farming.
Then either purchase Platinum or grab Stonewake’s Pickaxe in the Inner Cave for long-term rune flexibility.
2. Forgotten Kingdom (Mid-Game Region)
Cobalt → Titanium → Uranium → Mythril
Cobalt gets you started.
Titanium provides strong early value.
Uranium improves rare ore income.
Mythril is the turning point that unlocks Basalt Veins and deeper regions.
3. Late-Game Chase Items
Lightite → Magma → Arcane → Demonic
Lightite for speed,
Magma for raw damage (but not recommended long-term),
Arcane for high-luck farming,
Demonic for the ultimate end-game efficiency.
Rune & Buff Recommendations
Runes provide permanent upgrades to your pickaxe—for power, luck, speed, or ore drops. They’re applied through the Runemaker and can be expensive to remove, so choose carefully.
Short-term buffs like potions and totems can also dramatically boost mining performance during long sessions.
