Google announced to discontinue Google Assistant support for smartwatches running Wear OS 2 or older version after August 31, 2023.

Users with Wear OS 2 smartwatch will no longer to utilize voice commands or receive answers from Google Assistant on their wrists.

A Twitter user, Mishaal Rahman, tweeted about notification received on TicWatch Pro 3 displaying the message “Google Assistant support for this watch is ending soon. Please Upgrade…”

Google's latest Wear OS 3 supports Google Assistant and other Google services, such as Google Pay, Google Maps, and Google Fit.

According to Google, only a few devices will be eligible for the upgrade to Wear OS 3, such as the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, the Pixel Watch, and the Fossil Gen 6.

Users with other devices, need to buy a new smartwatch if they want to enjoy the benefits of Wear OS 3 and Google Assistant.
