Tata Play (Tata Sky), one of the leading DTH service providers in India, has become 1st DTH service provider in India to utilize ISRO's GSAT-24 satellite.

Tata Play has announced that it has started beaming of tv channels from its dedicated GSAT-24 satellite, which is now in its orbital position

Tata Play is the first DTH platform in India to use a satellite built by the ISRO for providing DTH services.

ISRO's GSAT-24 satellite is a 4-tonne class communication satellite that was launched by NSIL (NewSpace India Limited), the commercial arm of ISRO, in June 2022.

The inauguration event attended by officials, including Ministry of I&B Secretary, hailed for boosting space self-reliance.

The satellite has a designed life of more than 15 years and carries 36 transponders in Ku-band and Ka-band frequencies.

The increased bandwidth from GSAT-24 will enable Tata Play to provide its users with an even sharper picture and sound quality, and 50% more channels.

Tata Play’s CEO, Mr. Ravi Shankar thanked NSIL for facilitating the launch and operation of GSAT-24 satellite.
