The Twin Lions fight stands out as one of the most chaotic encounters in Where Winds Meet. Their arena fills with fire, pillars, airborne attacks, and rapid animations that demand sharp reactions rather than brute force. This guide breaks down their location, moveset, and reliable strategies to help you defeat them without feeling overwhelmed.
Twin Lions Location

You’ll find Twin Lions in Gracetown, located in the southeastern part of Kaifeng. As you head south of the North Gracetown Boundary Stone, you’ll eventually reach a clearing near the lion dance troupe. Entering this space triggers the fight immediately, so be prepared before stepping in.
How the Twin Lions Fight Works
Twin Lions behave like a constantly shifting target. Almost every attack involves subtle body movement, which makes parry timing unpredictable. Many strikes include fireworks, airborne transitions, or pillar jumps that force you to stay mobile.

The battle is split into two phases, with the second speeding up every animation and adding a few extra twists.
Phase 1: Key Attacks and Counters
1. Firework Swipe
A diagonal swipe is followed by a burst of fireworks in a large radius.
- Best response: Dodge. This attack’s wind-up is extremely short, making parrying unreliable.
2. Firework Bomb Toss
Twin Lions leap backward into the air before throwing a bomb toward you.
- Parry window: When the bomb is about to hit you.
- Tip: It builds Qi gauge quickly if you get the parry timing right.
3. Standing Head Slam
The boss rises upright, then slams the lion head downward.
- Parry window: Clear and forgiving due to the longer wind-up.
4. Head Slam → Leg Sweep
A fast slam followed by a low sweeping kick.
- Parry tip: Even if the slam hits you, rapidly parry to deflect the sweep.
5. Gold Dash Attack (Unblockable)
A sudden dash that launches you into the air if it connects.
- Counter: Dodge sideways just before the dash lands.

Pillar Mechanics (Critical to the Fight)
Twin Lions frequently summon stone pillars around the arena. These pillars influence several major attacks:
Gold Divebomb
They climb a pillar, leap off, and dive straight at you.
- Avoidance: Roll just before impact.
- Punish opportunity: If they land on a pillar during the sequence, run up and kick them off when the prompt appears, dealing huge damage and leaving them exposed.
Sometimes the prompt fails to appear—this is likely a bug—so don’t force it. Just reset your position and resume dodging.
Rolling Dive Attack
They climb a pillar and roll toward you.
- Response: Dodge at the last moment, or parry if you’re confident.
Red Attack: Sweep → Uppercut
Their red attack is a two-hit sequence.
- Counter: Ignore the first sweep and parry the uppercut for a guaranteed counterattack.
Rare Attack: Arena-Wide Fireworks
Twin Lions move to the center and scatter fireworks in every direction.
- Intended method: Fire an arrow at their head.
- Practical method: Just dodge. You usually don’t have enough time to aim a fire arrow safely at close range.
Phase 2: Speed and Pressure Increase
When their first health bar drops, Phase 2 begins. The moveset remains similar, but everything becomes faster and more animated.

What’s new in Phase 2:
- Attacks are faster and harder to read due to subtle extra movements.
- Firework Bomb now comes twice in a row, requiring back-to-back parries.
- Spinning Firework Barrage appears, where the boss rotates while launching fireworks. You can interrupt this with Meridian Touch, but landing the prompt is tricky when fireworks are exploding near you.
How to survive Phase 2:
- Stay outside the pillar ring whenever it spawns. This removes the risk of tight divebomb dodges.
- Prioritize dodging over parrying, except for slow head-slam attacks and red uppercuts.
- Capitalize on breathing windows—Twin Lions always pause briefly after airborne sequences.
