Sony announces Deep Earth Collection- new colors for PS5 console and controller

Sony has revealed a new set of colors for the PlayStation 5 console and the DualSense wireless controller, inspired by the hues found in the depths of planet Earth. The collection, called the Deep Earth Collection, includes three colors: Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver, all with a metallic finish.

The Volcanic Red color is inspired by the fiery magma that flows beneath the Earth’s crust, creating a vibrant and dynamic contrast with the black console. The Cobalt Blue color is inspired by the deep ocean waters that cover most of the planet, creating a calm and cool atmosphere. The Sterling Silver color is inspired by the precious metals that are hidden in the Earth’s core, creating a sleek and elegant look.

The new colors will be available for both the PS5 console and the DualSense wireless controller. Pre-orders start on October 4 through direct.playstation.com and select retailers, and you can grab Volcanic Red and Cobalt Blue accessories on November 3. Sterling Silver accessories will be available from January 26.

Price and availability

The Deep Earth DualSense controllers will cost $74.99 USD/¥9,980, and the Deep Earth PS5 console covers will be $59.99 USD/¥7,980. Similar to the previous color options, the Deep Earth Collection will only offer optional covers and controllers for existing PS5 owners. This means you won’t be able to buy a new PS5 console in these colors.

Pre-orders for the DualSense wireless controllers in Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver begin on October 4 in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal. Pre-orders will also be available at select retailers in other global markets on the same day. The controllers in Volcanic Red and Cobalt Blue will be released on November 3, while the Sterling Silver version will launch on January 26.

On October 4, pre-orders for the PS5 Console Covers in Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver will begin in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal, directly through PlayStation’s website. Pre-orders will also be open through select retailers in other global markets on the same day. The PS5 Console Covers in Volcanic Red and Cobalt Blue will be available from November 3, while the Sterling Silver version will launch on January 26.
