How to Unlock Mob Mentality Side Mission

To access this quest, you first need to finish the main mission Shadow of the Mountain. Once completed, you’ll gain entry to Belton’s Bore in the Low Leys.

Inside town, look near the vending machines and stairs for an ECHO log with a hologram on top. Interacting with this starts Mob Mentality. If the log doesn’t respond, leave the town briefly and return to reset it.

Meeting The Boss at The Pit

Your first objective takes you to The Pit, a club not far from Belton’s Bore. The Boss’s office is on the second level, but your access depends on how you handle Numba One, the NPC blocking the door.

You have two choices:

  • Option 1: Bribe him with a drink
Go to the bar below, talk to Tipsy Olivia, and grab Numba One’s drink from the far left. Bring it back and throw it at him. He’ll step aside, opening the way.
  • Option 2: Sneak around
Use the balcony route by climbing and gliding into the office window. This bypasses Numba One entirely.

Either way, head inside and speak to The Boss, who introduces you to the quest’s real task — recovering his mask.

Fighting Into The Thirst Scrap

The next stop is The Thirst Scrap, marked on your map. When you arrive, you’ll be swarmed by Manglers, fast and erratic enemies. Shotguns or elemental weapons with good spread help keep them under control.

Once the area is clear, find Pickett Fenster inside. He tells you to look for another way in, since the direct entrance is locked.

How to Find the Alternate Entrance in Thirst Scrap

  1. Head outside and look for scaffolding near the mountains.
  2. Grapple up to a tower platform across a gap.
  3. From the ledge, spot a battery canister below. Grapple it up.
  4. Insert the battery into the nearby mechanism, which powers open a heavy door.
  5. Glide or grapple across to the new entrance and follow the hallway.

Pickett meets you again inside and directs you toward your final task: retrieving the dead drop at The Gilded Drop.

The Gilded Drop and the Dead Drop Mask

The Gilded Drop lies southwest of The Pit and is crawling with Creeps. These enemies attack in swarms, so crowd-control weapons like shotguns and grenade mods are highly recommended.

After clearing the area, check the central platform. You’ll find the dead drop inside a porta-potty — the Boss’s mask. Grab it and prepare for the return trip.

Returning to The Pit – Ambush and Showdown

When you head back to The Pit, you’ll walk into an ambush by Rippers. Fight through both the outside and inside waves.

Inside, you’ll also face Numba One, who turns hostile this time. He’s tough but straightforward — focus fire, avoid his melee rushes, and use the environment for cover.

Once he’s down, head back to the Boss’s office and deliver the mask to complete the mission.
