Each event runs on a random timer, but knowing what each one does helps you plan when to harvest, when to steal, and which seeds to keep planted. How Weather Works in Grow a Garden 2
The game runs a fixed day and night cycle made up of three base states: Sunny (7.5 minutes), Sunset (30-second transition), and Night (2 minutes). During Night, players can steal crops from unlocked gardens if the owner steps outside their plot.
On top of that cycle, special weather events trigger randomly at any point during the day or night. Some events only occur at night. You can always check the active event by looking at the icon in the top-right corner of the screen, hovering over it shows the event name and its current bonus.
Public and private servers share the same weather, so neither gives you a better shot at rare events.

Rain
Rain is one of the most common events in the game and one of the longer ones at five minutes. It doubles the growth speed of every plant in your garden for the entire duration. Stack as many crops as possible before a rain event and you can squeeze in significantly more harvests than usual.
Lightning (Stormy)
The sky turns grey during the Lightning event and bolts strike the ground periodically. Any plant that gets hit has a chance to receive the Electric mutation, which adds a 25x multiplier to that crop’s sell value. The event runs for five minutes, giving plenty of opportunities for lightning to hit your garden.
Rainbow
During the Rainbow event, rainbows stretch across the play area and every player gets a temporary rainbow carpet underfoot. The carpet disappears when the event ends, but while it is active, your plants have a significantly higher chance of growing with the Rainbow mutation. If you are holding single-yield seeds, this is the right time to plant them and harvest immediately for the best rainbow odds.
Snowfall / Blizzard
Snow starts falling and the sky turns icy when the Snowfall event begins. Beams of light occasionally strike the ground, and crops in the path of those strikes can pick up the Frozen mutation. The Frozen mutation adds a 5x value multiplier to the affected crop. The event only lasts two and a half minutes, so prioritize harvesting fast if you notice your plants freezing.
Starfall
Starfall is widely considered one of the best and rarest events in Grow a Garden 2. Shooting stars light up the sky and fall toward the ground during the two-minute window. Any crop that gets hit has a chance to receive the Starstruck mutation, which carries a 50x multiplier from the crop’s base value. Never miss a Starfall event if you are actively trying to grow your earnings.
Gold (Midas) Moon
The Gold Moon, sometimes called the Midas event, turns the sky dark with a gold glow. Gold Seeds begin spawning on the ground and you can collect them by walking over them. There is also a chance that a meteor strikes you during the event, turning you into Midas. While in that state, the first crop you steal from another player turns into a Golden plant, and successfully bringing it back rewards you with Sheckles for all stolen crops.
Rainbow Moon
The Rainbow Moon turns the moon into a glowing multicolored disc and fills the lobby with rainbow lighting. Random Rainbow Seeds spawn across the map for you to collect. If a meteor hits you during the event, you gain a rainbow buff that turns the first crop you steal from another player into a Rainbow-mutated plant. It is one of the better night events for both seed collection and theft payoffs.
Blood Moon
The Blood Moon is a rare night-only event that turns the sky and moon blood red. Lasers fall from above during the two-minute window, and any crop struck has a chance to gain the Bloodlit mutation. Bloodlit adds a significant value boost to affected crops, making this one of the more lucrative events when it does appear.
Aurora
The Aurora event fills the night sky with aurora borealis lighting. For two minutes, your crops have a chance to receive the Aurora mutation, which pushes their sell value to a 42x multiplier. The moon does not change appearance during this event, so keep an eye on the sky itself to spot it. Aurora is one of the rarer mutations in the game, making this a high-priority event to harvest through.
Mega Moon
Mega Moon is the newest weather event added to Grow a Garden 2. The sky darkens with a blue and purple hue as an oversized moon slowly grows larger overhead. Stars fill the sky, the ground starts shaking, and Mega Seeds begin spawning across the map. Plants grown from Mega Seeds are noticeably larger than standard plants. Players who steal crops during this event have a chance to make those fruits larger as well.
Best Weather Events to Farm in Grow a Garden 2
Starfall and Lightning deliver the highest direct value through mutations alone. Starfall’s 50x Starstruck multiplier is one of the biggest in the game, while Lightning’s Electric mutation at 25x is reliable and the event lasts a full five minutes. Aurora at 42x and Blood Moon’s Bloodlit mutation are both excellent night events if you catch them.
Rain is the most practical event for general farming since the doubled growth speed applies to everything in your garden with no conditions attached.
