What Is Marvel Rivals Blood Hunt Mode?

Blood Hunt is a limited-time PvE mode running from April 23 to July 30, 2026, as part of Season 7.5. You pick one of six event heroes, team up with up to three other players, and fight through vampire-infested city streets toward four major boss battles.

If you played Marvel Zombies during Halloween 2025, you already understand the format. Blood Hunt builds directly on that foundation with a deeper progression system, a dedicated loot loop, and difficulty tiers that scale far beyond anything Zombie Mode offered.

The story ties into Season 7 events. Spider-Man and Black Cat broke into Kingpin’s vault to free captured heroes, and the jailbreak accidentally freed Dracula, who had been locked up since Season 1. Dracula walked out with a Norn Stone from Kingpin’s collection and immediately unleashed a vampire army on New York. Now both heroes and Kingpin may need to work together to clean up the mess.

All Blood Hunt Playable Characters

Blood Hunt gives you six heroes to choose from. Each one uses a mix of their standard abilities and new PvE-specific moves built for this mode.

HeroNotes
BladeThe obvious pick for a vampire-hunting event
Moon KnightStrong crowd control potential
Jeff the Land SharkSurprisingly viable support
Squirrel GirlGreat for wave clearing
The PunisherHigh damage output against swarms
ThorBuilt for sustained fights

You can upgrade all six heroes from the Hero page inside the Blood Moon event tab. Upgrades carry across your runs and directly impact how well you handle harder difficulty tiers.

How the Hero Upgrade System Works

Blood Hunt introduces three upgrade categories for each hero. This is the biggest mechanical addition compared to Zombie Mode.

Gear — Equippable items you earn by playing each hero. Four slots: Weapon, Armor, Accessory, and Exclusive. Higher difficulty runs drop better Gear.

Traits — A customizable skill tree unique to each hero. You use Traits to boost stats and unlock extra abilities. The tree looks different depending on which hero you play, so build decisions matter.

Arcana — An additional layer of power bonuses that scales as you push into harder difficulty tiers.

The upgrades persist between runs, which means repeated clears on higher difficulties actively improve your hero rather than resetting your progress. Push as high as you can early to accelerate your Gear quality.

All Blood Hunt Bosses

Four boss battles stand between you and the top of the difficulty ladder. Each boss has unique attack patterns, similar to how Namor and Scarlet Witch worked in Zombie Mode.

  1. Capwolf — The first major boss you encounter
  2. Ratatoskr — A mythological threat mid-way through
  3. Dracula — The main antagonist of the entire event
  4. Kingpin — A hidden boss who only appears in Extreme difficulty

Kingpin is worth hunting specifically. Defeating him in Extreme unlocks the Kingpin Dethroned Accessory and the Animal Instinct Gallery Card, two of the more valuable cosmetic rewards in the event.

All Difficulty Levels

Blood Hunt uses four main difficulty tiers, with Nightmare branching into a long ladder of stages beyond the base game.

  • Normal — Entry-level difficulty, good for learning the mode
  • Hard — Step up with noticeably stronger enemies
  • Extreme — Required to access the Kingpin hidden boss fight
  • Nightmare — An extended ladder of 17+ stages scaling enemy count and boss aggression

Nightmare works differently from the other three. Each stage you clear increases the difficulty further, and the reward list runs all the way to Nightmare 120. Most players will not reach the top, but even Nightmare 5 starts paying out worthwhile prizes.

Tips for Getting Started

  • Start on Normal, then jump straight to Hard: Normal exists to teach the mechanics. Once you understand the wave patterns and your hero’s kit, move to Hard immediately to start earning better Gear.
  • Focus on one hero first: The Traits system rewards depth. Pick one character, invest your upgrades there, and push as high as you can before branching to others for the hero-specific title rewards.
  • Hunt the Kingpin fight on Extreme: The Kingpin Dethroned Accessory is one of the strongest cosmetic rewards in the event, and it requires Extreme difficulty specifically. Clear Extreme as early as possible to lock in that reward.
  • Nightmare runs stack kill counts fast: If you want the 40,000-kill Blood Hunt Nameplate, run Nightmare as soon as you can survive it. Higher difficulties throw far more enemies at you per run.
