These giant insects hide in wide, sand-filled pits, waiting to pull unsuspecting players into their trap. To earn the badge, you’ll need to step into their territory, take a hit, and then fight your way out before they can finish you off. You don’t need to defeat the Antlion, but you must take at least one hit before making your escape.

How to Survive an Antlion Attack and Earn the Megaentomology Badge

The Antlion only appears in the Mesa biome, a scorching desert region packed with hazards like cacti and treacherous terrain. It makes its home inside large, bowl-shaped sand pits that are hard to miss. From a distance, you can often spot them by a suspicious piece of luggage placed in the center — bait to lure you into range. Once you approach the middle of the pit, the sand erupts and the Antlion bursts out, trying to drag you in.

The Badge Requirement

To unlock the Megaentomology Badge, you must:

1. Trigger the Antlion’s attack by getting close enough for it to pull you.
2. Let it bite you at least once — escaping without taking damage won’t count.
3. Escape the pit alive before it can finish you off.

If you meet these conditions, the badge will unlock as soon as you’re out of its reach.

What You Need Before Facing the Antlion in PEAK

Because the Antlion’s pull is strong and stamina drains quickly, preparation is key:

• Enter with full stamina so you have enough energy to fight the pull.
• Bring a stamina-restoring item like an Energy Drink or Lollipop to recover mid-escape.
• Avoid nearby cacti — their thorns deal extra damage and make escaping harder. If you get thorned, a co-op partner can remove them to reduce the status effect.
• Bring a friend if possible. They can either pull you out directly or revive you with an item if you collapse.

Surviving the Antlion Attack

When the Antlion grabs you, push against the pull while jumping repeatedly to gain distance. Short, rhythmic jumps drain less stamina and give you a better chance of breaking free. If you’re playing in co-op, have your teammate ready at the rim to grab you.
