Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Storybook Vale expansion brings some of the cutest Companions in the game — from tiny frogs to baby dragons and majestic Pegasi. Among them, two standout critters have become instant fan favorites: the Teal Baby Dragon and the Black Pegasus. Both are rare, beautiful, and extremely rewarding to befriend.
Where to Find the Teal Baby Dragon
The Teal Baby Dragon can be found roaming the Wild Woods biome within Everafter, a region located on the western side of The Storybook Vale.
It shares this habitat with the Blue Baby Dragon, which looks quite similar. The easiest way to tell them apart is by looking at their eyes — the Teal Baby Dragon has distinct bright orange eyes.
This critter isn’t always available, so you’ll need to visit the area during its active days.

If you don’t see it right away, try leaving and re-entering the biome or adjusting your play time to one of its active days.
Teal Baby Dragon’s Favorite Food
Like other dragons, the Teal Baby Dragon has a refined taste for rare gems.
To win its trust quickly, feed it any of the following:
- Pure Ice
- Shiny Pure Ice
- Magma
- Shiny Magma
It also “likes” all other Gems, so even if you don’t have its top favorites, any gem will still help you build friendship progress. Avoid feeding it non-gem items, as it will simply reject them.
Teal Baby Dragon Hangout Bonus
Once befriended, you can equip the Teal Baby Dragon from the Wardrobe > Companions menu.
Its hangout ability is quite special — it helps gather Ores while you mine around the valley. This sets it apart from other Baby Dragons, which usually focus on collecting Snippets.
When your friendship with it reaches level 4, it can even grant bonus Ore resources during mining sessions, making it one of the best Companions for resource farming in Storybook Vale.
Where to Find the Black Pegasus
The Black Pegasus is another elegant critter that lives in The Elysian Fields region of Mythopia, found toward the right side of The Storybook Vale.
It often appears alongside the Pink Pegasus, so double-check its color before you interact — the Black Pegasus has a deep, glossy coat that stands out against the brighter hues of the Pink Pegasus.

You can feed it multiple times per day, but only the first successful feeding counts toward collecting it or completing Dreamlight Duties.
Black Pegasus Favorite Food
The Black Pegasus is quite picky about its meals. It only eats Vegetable-based dishes, with a preference for higher-star meals:
- Favorite foods: 4-Star or 5-Star Vegetable-based meals
- Liked foods: 3-Star or lower Vegetable-based meals
Anything that doesn’t include Vegetables will be rejected, so make sure you prepare the right dish before approaching.
Black Pegasus Hangout Bonus
When you add the Black Pegasus as your active Companion, it grants a Snippets Gathering bonus — identical to other Pegasi.
This means it can automatically pick up Snippet resources while you explore The Storybook Vale. Once you reach Friendship Level 4, it can occasionally generate extra Snippets, making it extremely useful for farming these rare collectibles.
Snippets are mainly found across The Storybook Vale, though a few rare ones, like the White Bird Snippets, can appear back in the regular Dreamlight Valley as well.
Tips to Collect and Equip Companions in Dreamlight Valley
- Approach carefully: Critters like the Teal Baby Dragon and Black Pegasus will move around when approached. Follow them patiently until they stop to interact.
- Equip through Wardrobe: After unlocking, go to Inventory → Wardrobe → Companions to make them your active partner.
- Use Photo Mode: Both companions can strike unique poses when photographed — perfect for capturing your collection milestones.
- Companion Home: You can also house them in a Companion Home, allowing you to display your growing collection.
