The Apothecary Skill in The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature lets your Sims tap into nature’s magic to craft powerful Elixirs, cure mystical Ailments, and even influence emotions. With this skill, Sims can heal themselves or others, pursue the Naturopath career, or brew concoctions for a bit of playful chaos. Whether you’re focused on holistic healing or magical mischief, mastering Apothecary adds an exciting layer of natural and supernatural gameplay.

This guide covers everything you need to know about the Apothecary Skill, including how to level it up, what you can craft, and why it matters.
What Is the Apothecary Skill?
The Apothecary Skill allows Sims to craft Elixirs, Cures, Emotion Potions, and Luck Charms. These items let Sims:
- Heal Ailments
- Influence Emotions
- Protect Sims from supernatural threats
- Create playful chaos among other Sims
It’s also vital for pursuing the Naturopath career or the Elixir Enthusiast aspiration.
Who can learn it? Teen, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder Sims can all build this skill.
Sims with the Mystical Personality Trait gain a boost when learning Apothecary, helping them level up faster and excel in potion-making.

How to Start Learning Apothecary
Your Sim has several ways to begin building this magical skill:
1. Use the Leafy Ledge Apothecary Table
- Purchase the Leafy Ledge Apothecary Table (also known simply as the Apothecary Table) in Build Mode.
- Choose “Study Apothecary Cures” or start crafting Elixirs directly.
- This is the most hands-on way to build the skill.
The Apothecary Table costs only §100 and is functional off-the-grid, making it perfect for eco builds.
Tip: If you’re short on cash, you don’t have to buy your own Apothecary Table right away. You’ll find free-to-use tables in the GROM Exhibit museum in the Coast of Adhmor neighborhood and another near the fairy hub in Everdew.
2. Research on the Computer
- Select a computer and choose: More Choices > Web > Research > Research Cures & Elixirs
While slower than crafting, this is a convenient method if your Sim isn’t ready to invest in a table yet.
3. Read Skill Books
If your Sim prefers books, you can buy skill volumes from any bookshelf:
- Apothecary Vol 1: A Spoonful of Sugar → §75
- Apothecary Vol 2: No, Don’t Drink That! → §150
- Apothecary Vol 3: Making Your Friends Drink That → §250
Books can train your Sim up to level 9 but are slower than hands-on crafting.
4. Attend Skill Classes
If you own Discover University, your Sim can sit in on a skill-building class for §250. Find this option under:
Phone > Business App (briefcase icon) > Sit in on Skill Class
Classes run between 9 AM and 9 PM and boost skill gain while your Sim’s off-lot.
5. Use the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard
Available with the Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack, this whiteboard lets Sims teach or learn the skill in a group setting.
Once you reach level 5, your Sim can also mentor other Sims in the Apothecary skill, helping friends or family members learn this magical craft.
How to Gather Ingredients
Crafting Elixirs requires ingredients. Here’s how your Sims can gather them:
Forage in the world
- From Level 2 onward, you can select “Forage for Apothecary Ingredients” on grass, dirt, or sand.
At level 2, your Sim can forage specifically for Apothecary ingredients rather than random items. However, keep in mind foraging still yields a random mix, so you might gather extra ingredients you don’t immediately need.
Purchase at the Apothecary Table
- Basic ingredients like Aura Petal, Basil, Daisy, Lemon, Lump of Moss, and Sage are available for purchase.
At level 10, your Sim unlocks Advanced Ingredients for purchase at the Apothecary Table, including Acorn, Lightning Root Leaf, and Small Critter Bone.
Grow in your garden
- Some ingredients can be cultivated for a steady supply.
Visit Apothecary Todd’s Shop
- In Sprucederry Grove, your Sim can buy or sell crafted elixirs and even get mentorship from Todd!
Ailments and Their Cures
Ailments are magical afflictions your Sims can catch from fairies, bad luck, or other random mischief. They create uncomfortable moodlets and sometimes odd behaviors. Fortunately, they’re curable!
Sims can catch ailments through various means like becoming Very Imbalanced, using toilets off their home lot, being cursed by a Fairy, or sometimes just from random bad luck.

Emotional Void | Dampens all emotions | Basil x1, Aura Petal x2 |
