In Deltarune Chapter 2, there’s a hidden item called the KeyGen that opens the way to a secret boss fight. It’s not easy to find or use unless you know exactly what to do. This guide will help you get the KeyGen, use it the right way, and beat the tough fight that comes after.

What Is the KeyGen?
The KeyGen is a strange item sold by Spamton in the Trash Zone. It’s short for “Key Generator” and is used to open a hidden door in Queen’s Mansion. Behind that door is a secret boss—Spamton NEO.
The item looks and acts like an old computer key generator, with flashy effects and weird behavior.
- Item Type: Key Item
- Used For: Unlocks a locked door in Queen’s Mansion
- Where to Get: Spamton’s Shop
- Price: Random—can be as low as 0 or go above 49,000 Kromer
When you use it, the game says:
“(Kris used the KEYGEN.)”
Once used, it disappears.
How to Get the KeyGen
First, go to Queen’s Mansion in Chapter 2. Near the entrance, you’ll see a red door next to the Color Café. Use that door to go back to the Trash Zone.
Steps to Get It:
- In Trash Zone, move left until you find a dead end.
- Look for a hole in the fence. Go through it.
- You’ll find Spamton’s shop.
- Choose “BUY MORE!!!” in the menu.
- The KeyGen shows up at the top, but its price keeps changing.
- Wait until the price drops below 100 Kromer, then buy it.
If it’s too expensive, just wait a few seconds or back out and try again. The price changes quickly.
How to Use the KeyGen
After buying the KeyGen, it will show up in your Key Items. Keep playing the story until you reach the Second Floor of Queen’s Mansion.
Here’s what to do next:
- Help the Tasque Manager and clear the speeding car puzzle.
- After that, go into the hallway on the right.
- You’ll see a room with Queen statues and a green monster walking around.
- Watch the monster—it turns into a hand-shaped pointer for a second.
- Stand where the monster was and press the button to reveal a hidden switch.
- The switch opens a new path. Go through it to find a glowing green lock.
- Use the KeyGen here to unlock the secret basement.
Exploring the Basement
Once inside, you’ll go through dark hallways and a laser wall. Go left first to find the switch that turns off the laser, then move to the right hallway.
You’ll see two tracks—take the path on the far right. Inside, you’ll find a statue covered in vines. Interact with it to get the Empty Disk.
Give the Disk to Spamton
Head back to Spamton’s shop in the Trash Zone. Open the TALKING menu and choose GIVE DISK.
Important: After giving him the disk, Spamton’s shop will close forever. So buy anything else you want first.
He will give you a Loaded Disk and tell you to return to the robot statue.
Fighting Spamton NEO
Go back to the Basement and use the Loaded Disk on the statue. At first, nothing happens—but as you walk away, the boss fight starts.
Spamton NEO is one of the hardest fights in Chapter 2. He has fast attacks and changes his pattern as the fight goes on.
Tips for the Fight
- Bring healing items like Spaghetti Code and Ham Sandwiches.
- Use Snap All to raise Mercy quickly, but remember—it uses up your turn.
- Have someone like Ralsei focus on healing.
- At 70% Mercy, his pattern changes.
- Kris gives more Mercy when low on HP or when an ally is down.
Fun Extras and Trivia
- The KeyGen is a joke item based on old pirated software key generators.
- After you buy it, if you talk to Spamton about “OUR DEAL,” his face flashes and special music plays.
- The music sounds like a real keygen track called “Unreal Superhero 3” by Kenet & Rez.
- This is a fun nod to early 2000s internet culture.
The KeyGen quest is a cool secret in Deltarune Chapter 2. It’s funny, tricky, and leads to one of the best fights in the game. Take your time, grab the right items, and enjoy the weirdness of it all.
