Moon.exe is a small text adventure you can start at any Helper terminal. At first, it seems like a fun extra. But it’s very important—completing Moon.exe gives you the Glitched Permission, which is needed to unlock the secret ending and reach David’s hidden room.
Collect All 25 Giftbox Items First
Before starting Moon.exe, you need to collect 25 items that look like giftboxes. These are found all over Murray’s Costume Manor and Edwin’s House. Drop them off using the Inventory Tubes.
Note: You can only find 24 items in your first playthrough. The White Tiger Doll shows up in New Game+, so you’ll need to play again to finish everything.

How to Start Moon.exe
Once you’ve dropped off all the items, go to any Helper terminal and choose RUN: MOON.EXE. This will start a text-based game where you help a kid escape from a house and go on an adventure.
You can switch scenes using the left and right buttons. The name of the scene appears at the top-left of the screen, which helps you follow along.
To do actions, you’ll need to type or choose commands like Open, Use, or Examine.
There’s no timer and no penalty for wrong inputs, so feel free to try different things.
Step-by-Step Moon.exe Walkthrough
House Escape
- Open the Closet to get the Hedgehog Mask and wear it.
- Check the Toy Box for the Sharpy Plushie and a Small Key.
- Use the key to unlock the Window and escape.
Forest and Ruins
- At the nest, grab the Chica Party Time Cup and fill it with soup from the cauldron.
- Throw the soup at the gator to free the owl.
- Take the Night Light and Ranger Knife from the oak tree.
- Use the knife to cut a branch and make a Walking Stick.
- Go into the Forest Ruins to find the Bowtie, Honey Bottle, and Sewing Kit.
- Use the Walking Stick to climb up to the Cabin.
At the cabin:
- Give the honey to the bear so it leaves.
- Go inside and talk to the old woman.
- Fix the Fox, Rabbit, and Bear masks using your items.
- She’ll give you the Baby Owl Mask.
Cave Puzzle
- Put on the Owl Mask and enter the Cave.
Inside:
- Use the Toy Hammer on a crystal in the Crystal Cave to get the Left Arm.
- Memorize the wall code: Left, Right, Right, Left.
- Use that code on a chest behind the Pirate Ship waterfall to get the Right Arm.
- Use the Fishing Net in the Cave Pool to get the Statue Head.
- Put all three parts on the statue base. You’ll be teleported to the carnival area.
Carnival
- At Welcome Show, take the Ticket.
- In Jackie’s Showroom, drop the Rainy Day Boots to trap her, then grab the David Blocks.
- In Big Top, trade the Ticket to get David’s Toy Ball.
- At the Doll Hospital, fix toys using the Doctor’s Kit and get the Birthday Cake.
- Give the Cake to Chica to get the White Tiger Doll.
Solve David’s Puzzle
Now go back to David’s Room:
- Put the Toy Ball in the Moon Box.
- Put the Blocks in the Star Box.
- Put the White Tiger Doll in the Snow Box.
Walk into the Closet. You’ll see a bits mini-game. Complete it to get the Glitched Permission.
The puzzle is random but just match the binary bits to finish.
How to Get the Secret Ending
Once you have the Glitched Permission, finish the game until you reach Edwin’s House.
Here’s what to do:
- Don’t use Edwin’s door code.
- Find and play six audio tapes.
- Put them into tape decks on the second floor.
- This opens a secret vent.
Grab the Tiger Plush from an Inventory Tube and put it on the podium outside David’s locked door. This starts a special scene.
Pick any four animals when prompted. The Mimic will shrink and stop moving. This leads to the hidden ending and reveals David’s room.
