Borderlands 4 Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine Location & Rewards Guide

In the world of Borderlands 4, loot defines progression. Once you’ve cleared the main story and stepped into endgame activities, one feature stands out as both mysterious and rewarding: Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine. Much like Xur in Destiny, this rotating vendor provides Vault Hunters with a steady supply of legendary gear—but only if you can track it down each week.

What Is Maurice’s Black Market?

Maurice’s Black Market is a unique vending machine that sells an exclusive pool of Legendary weapons and gear in exchange for Cash. Unlike the standard vending machines scattered across Pandora’s successors, Maurice’s machine spawns in a different hidden location every week, making it an event of its own.

The stock is randomized, and importantly, inventory is account-based. That means what you see might differ from what your friends see, opening up opportunities for co-op trading if you each unlock the feature.

How to Unlock the Black Market

You won’t stumble upon the Black Market early on. Access requires a series of steps:

  1. Finish the main story campaign – completing the storyline unlocks Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode (UVHM).
  2. Complete “Ultimate Vault Hunter: Maurice’s Bounty” – this quest introduces you to your first Black Market machine.
  3. Finish additional UVHM quests for full access:
    • Zane’s Fireware
    • Maurice’s Bounty
    • Big Encore
    • Wildcard Mission

Only after completing these will you gain complete access to weekly rotations.

Where to Find the Black Market

Maurice’s Black Market doesn’t stay put. It changes location every week at the global reset time (Thursday at 12 PM ET / 9 AM PT for most weekly activities). Each reset brings a new spot somewhere across Carcadia and beyond.

Example Locations So Far

  • Grindstone of the Worthy, Carcadia Burn – found on a cliff south of Crumblehall, near the Rustical Hurl Silo fast travel station.
  • Punitive Manufactorium, Cuspid Climb – hidden inside a facility, accessed by following the path north of Rustical Hurl Silo.
  • Plungeford, Coastal Bonescape – tucked on a balcony overlooking the northern zone, guarded by local enemies.

Each time you approach within about 20 meters, the machine becomes visible, and a temporary map marker is placed to guide you until the next reset.

What Does the Machine Sell?

The Black Market exclusively trades in Legendary gear, making it a top destination for high-level Vault Hunters. Key details:

  • Items cost Cash, not Eridium.
  • The machine’s inventory can be rerolled by exiting and re-entering the menu, but this triggers a cooldown. The timer can be checked by hovering over its weekly activities icon on the map.
  • Stock differs per player account, encouraging multiplayer loot sharing.

This makes it one of the best ways to spend your saved-up currency in Borderlands 4.

Quick Tips for Using the Black Market

  • Unlock as many fast travel points as possible. The machine can spawn anywhere, and mobility is key.
  • Check every week. Legendary pools change with each reset, so skipping a week could mean missing a must-have weapon.
  • Coordinate with friends. Since inventories differ, trading among trusted co-op partners is a great way to expand your loot pool.
  • Mind the cooldown. Don’t waste rerolls right before reset time.

Borderlands has always been about the thrill of loot, and Maurice’s Black Market extends that excitement into the endgame loop. By tying legendary rewards to a roaming, once-a-week vendor, Gearbox keeps players returning, exploring, and comparing finds with friends. It’s not just another vending machine—it’s a ritual for dedicated Vault Hunters.  Play Now!
