Silent Hill f is filled with puzzles that test not just observation but also patience. The Memories Puzzle, found in the Dark Shrine Worship Hall, is one of those challenges that leans less on riddles and more on scavenger hunting. Your goal is simple: recover Shu’s Prized Possessions and return them to his display. What you need to collect depends entirely on the difficulty level you’re playing.

Where to Find the Memories Puzzle
You’ll reach the Dark Shrine Worship Hall after unlocking the Sacred Door with the Tri Scale Emblem Key. Inside, Shu’s display room is set up like a small museum, but some pedestals are empty. That’s where the puzzle begins: you must retrieve the missing items scattered across the maze-like corridors nearby.
Enemies lurk in these corridors, and in harder difficulties you’ll also face a Birthing Mother mini-boss or a dangerous Spawner encounter. Surviving these fights is part of the challenge before you can place Shu’s memories back where they belong.
Puzzle Objective by Difficulty
The number of possessions you need to find changes depending on your chosen mode:
Difficulty | Required Items |
---|---|
Story | Brainiac Hero Comic |
Hard | Brainiac Hero Comic + Drawing of Young Hinako |
Lost in the Fog | Brainiac Hero Comic + Drawing of Young Hinako + Raygun |
Once you have the correct items for your mode, return to Shu’s display hall and place them on the pedestals. Hinako will automatically set them in the right spots, so you only need to focus on surviving and retrieving them.
Item Locations
1. Brainiac Hero Comic
- Difficulty: Story, Hard, Lost in the Fog
- Location: Found on the second floor of the octagonal chamber near the exit switch.
- Tips: You’ll often encounter a Spawner or other enemies nearby. Clear them out or dodge strategically, then head upstairs to grab the comic from the table opposite the lever.
2. Drawing of a Young Shimizu Hinako
- Difficulty: Hard, Lost in the Fog
- Location: Early in the maze, just north of the first gate switch, at the end of a candle-lit corridor.
- Tips: It can be mistaken for set dressing, but it’s collectible. Watch for roaming enemies as you approach. On some routes, you can follow a patrolling monster into the dead-end where the Drawing rests on a table.
3. Raygun
- Difficulty: Lost in the Fog only
- Location: Inside the Birthing Mother mini-boss arena (or in the same spawner room depending on pathing). Look for it in a cabinet or display rack on the first floor.
- Tips: Defeat or outlast the mini-boss to safely search. Once it’s down, head toward the herbal storage cabinets or brown shelves to spot the Raygun tucked in the corner.
Rewards for Completing the Puzzle
Once Shu’s Prized Possessions are restored, the north door of the Worship Hall unlocks, and you’ll gain access to the Ebisugaoka Mountain Path. This is the next major area of the game, taking you beyond the middle school grounds and deeper into Silent Hill’s horrors.
Additionally, completing the puzzle heals Hinako’s health and sanity back to 100%, so don’t waste restorative items right before placing the possessions.
