Ghost of Yotei: All 15 Sumi-e Painting Locations Guide

Sumi-e paintings are one of the most peaceful collectible activities in Ghost of Yotei. At certain scenic spots, Atsu can sit down on a straw mat, smell the Fire Lilies, and create traditional Japanese ink art using the Touchpad. Each completed painting rewards a cosmetic item, and collecting all 15 overworld Sumi-e unlocks the “An Artist’s Eye” trophy.

Although the in-game tracker lists 18 Sumi-e paintings, three of them are tied to story or side quests. You only need the 15 open-world paintings for the trophy. None of them are missable, and you can complete them in free-roam after finishing the main story.

How Sumi-E Paintings Work

When you approach a Sumi-e location, it’s marked by a mat where you can sit and paint. The outlines of the picture will appear on screen, and you swipe the Touchpad in the indicated direction to complete it. Once finished, the painting is added to your Gallery at home, and you’ll also earn a piece of vanity gear such as a headband, hat, or mask.

All Sumi-E Painting Locations

The 15 collectible paintings are spread across six regions of Ezo. Below, we’ll walk through each one in order.

These are part of narrative moments and do not count toward the “An Artist’s Eye” trophy.

Rewards for Collecting All Sumi-E

Each Sumi-e painting rewards Atsu with a vanity item—headbands, hats, or masks. While these gear pieces provide no gameplay buffs, they add to customization options. Completing all 15 overworld paintings grants the “An Artist’s Eye” trophy and fills your personal Gallery with every scenic artwork.
