1. Forestry Badge — Reaching the Summit

This one’s straightforward but still a test of endurance. To earn the Forestry Badge, you simply need to climb to the top of The Roots biome. The path is longer and more vertical than other maps, with spore hazards and steep cliffs along the way. Keep stamina boosters on hand and avoid spore clusters when possible.

2. Undead Encounter Badge — Getting Bitten (and Surviving It)

The Undead Encounter Badge introduces zombies into the PEAK ecosystem. These enemies appear as scouts infected with mushroom growths. To unlock the badge:

  • Let one of them bite you inside The Roots biome.
  • Cure the infection afterward using a first-aid kit, bandages, or antidote.

You’ll not only survive the encounter but also unlock a cosmetic mummy outfit as a reward.

3. Web Security Badge — The Arachnid Test

You’ll earn this badge by getting caught in a spider web. When the web traps you, a quick-time event appears — spam the key prompt to escape before falling. High stamina helps you recover without taking fatal damage. Survive the drop, and you’ll secure the badge.

4. Advanced Mycology Badge — Sampling Every Shroomberry

This badge rewards the curious. You’ll need to eat every new Shroomberry type in one expedition — red, yellow, blue, green, and purple. Each variety grows in different areas of the biome, so take your time exploring before heading for the summit. Completing this earns you a floral-themed cosmetic suit.

5. Applied Esoterica Badge — Necromancy in the Mountains

This eerie challenge requires the Book of Bones, a rare Mythical-tier item. Use it on a dead teammate to bring them back to life, and you’ll earn the Applied Esoterica badge. The item can appear in Ancient Statues or luggage bags, so bring a team and prepare for a revival run.

6. Calcium Intake Badge — Milk Saves Lives

Drink Fortified Milk cartons before taking any damage to unlock this one. These are commonly found in luggage bags across all biomes. You can test this by letting a zombie or environmental effect hit you after you’ve consumed the milk. Doing so also unlocks the Bone Antlers cosmetic.

7. Competitive Eating Badge — Hot-Dog Sprint

You’ll need to eat three hot dogs within five seconds. Hot dogs spawn at the peak of levels, often near marshmallows. Since spawns aren’t guaranteed, stockpile them in your backpack across runs. Once ready, spam-eat them for your badge and enjoy the silly achievement name.

8. Cryptogastronomy Badge — Cooking the Screaming Plant

The Mandrake looks like a regular medicinal herb, but pick it up and you’ll hear it scream — draining stamina. Quickly toss it into your backpack and head to a campfire or portable stove to cook it. Once cooked, eat it to unlock the Cryptogastronomy Badge.

9. Disaster Response Badge — Rescue Hero

In multiplayer, use a Rescue Claw to drag an unconscious teammate for at least 30 meters. These claws spawn in luggage bags scattered across the biome. The badge encourages cooperation and serves as a reward for clutch saves.

10. Mycoacrobatics Badge — Mushroom Jumps

A fan-favorite badge that rewards acrobatics. Find the large red-and-white mushrooms in the biome and jump onto one from high above — roughly 40 meters up. Time your jump and descent carefully; the mushroom’s bounce propels you skyward in spectacular fashion.

11. Tread Lightly Badge — Low-Spore Ascent

The final badge tests your precision. To unlock it, climb to the top of The Roots biome without exceeding 25% spores damage on your stamina bar. Avoid stepping into spore-emitting plants and steer clear of zombie swarms. It’s a slow climb, but one that proves your control under pressure.

Rewards and Cosmetics

Completing these 11 challenges grants access to exclusive cosmetics — including fungal suits, bone-themed accessories, and revival-inspired gear. Each badge is both a challenge and a visual reward that adds personality to your scout.

Best Strategies for Badge Unlocks

  • Use luggage bags frequently; most new items (Book of Bones, Fortified Milk, Rescue Claw) spawn inside them.
  • Play with friends for Applied Esoterica and Disaster Response — both require multiplayer.
  • Bring extra stamina boosters for Web Security and Mycoacrobatics attempts.
  • Track your berries using checkpoints or notes to avoid missing one before extraction.

The Roots update deepens PEAK’s survival loop, blending eerie fungal growth with clever badge design. Whether you’re collecting cosmetics or chasing achievements, these new challenges add an extra layer of strategy and unpredictability to every expedition. Play Now!
