Heartopia gives you a lot of freedom when it comes to customizing your character, but changing your hairstyle is not something the game explains clearly at the start. Many players assume hair changes are tied to the home wardrobe, only to realize that customization works a bit differently.
When Hair Customization Becomes Available
You cannot change your hairstyle immediately after starting the game. Hair customization unlocks after you progress through the early main quests and help establish key NPC services.
As you move forward, you will receive a message indicating that styling services are now available. This usually happens once the clothing shop becomes fully functional and the styling area upstairs can be used.

Hair changes are handled at a specific location, not at your home or personal wardrobe.
To change your hairstyle:
- Travel to Morin’s Clothing Store near the Central Square
- Enter the shop and go upstairs
- Look for the vanity mirror on the second floor
- Interact with the mirror to open the customization menu
This vanity is the main customization hub where you can edit multiple appearance options, including hair .
How to Change Your Hairstyle and Color
Once the customization menu opens, you’ll see several appearance tabs. The Hairstyle section lets you modify both the cut and color of your character’s hair.
From this menu, you can:
- Select a new hairstyle
- Equip unlocked styles
- Purchase new hairstyles if you have enough currency
- Adjust hair colors using the color tools
Some hairstyles require a coin cost to equip, while others are locked behind progression or premium systems.
How Hair Colors and Highlights Work in Heartopia
Heartopia’s hair system supports multi-color styling, which gives your character a more detailed look.
If you notice the same hairstyle listed multiple times, that’s because each entry supports different color pattern options. Using the color picker tool, you can:
- Set a primary hair color
- Choose a secondary or accent color
- Create highlight or two-tone styles
If both color slots are set to the same shade, the hairstyle may look unchanged, so experimenting with contrast makes a big difference .
How to Unlock More Hairstyles
Not all hairstyles are available from the beginning. Heartopia gradually expands your options as you play.
You can unlock more hairstyles through:
- D.G. Member level progression (new styles unlock at higher ranks)
- Purchasing hairstyles with coins or Wishing Stars
- Gacha and exhibition systems that reward random cosmetic items
- Premium exhibitions, which include exclusive hairstyles
As your D.G. Member level increases, both hairstyle choices and color variations expand significantly.
Can You Change Hair Anytime?
Yes. Once the vanity mirror is unlocked, you can return to the clothing store and change your hairstyle as often as you like, as long as you have access to the styles you want.
