Future Icons Event: A New Limited-Time Celebration

Starting June 24 through July 25, the Future Icons Event drops new cosmetics, rewards, and ways to show off your skills. It ties into the whole “Prodigy” theme and is all about celebrating individual style and performance.

Players can unlock:

  • Legendary Skins for Rampart, Octane, and the Peacekeeper.
  • Wattson’s Apex Icon Prestige Skin, with a matching Dive Trail.
  • Event Packs that include one guaranteed event item and two regular ones—with no duplicates.

Collecting these items also helps you reach milestones that give extra rewards.

Arenas: Duels — 1v1 Mode with a Twist

The highlight of this update is Arenas: Duels, a new 1v1 mode inside the Arenas format. In this setup, 30 players battle through a chain of 1v1 fights over 5 minutes.

Key rules:

  • Random Legends, Weapons, and Spawn Points: Each round feels fresh.
  • No Abilities or Heals at First: It’s all about your aim and movement.
  • Same Loadouts for Both Players: Keeps things fair.
  • Optional Leaderboards: You can choose whether or not to show your ranking.

Respawn says Legend abilities will be added in a future version, which should shake things up even more.

Wattson, Vantage, and Ash Get Buffed

Some Legends that didn’t see much use are getting a boost to make them more fun and useful. These changes also focus on rewarding players who play smart and use tools well.

Wattson

Wattson’s tweaks help her set up faster and mess with enemies more easily.

  • Shield Regen is now 2/s (was 1/s)
  • Fence Node HP increased from 25 to 50, and the cooldown dropped to 4 seconds
  • Electrified Doors: Putting a fence across a door zaps enemies trying to open or kick it. If the fence goes down or is blocked, the shock stops—but comes back once it’s working again
  • Fences now slow jumping/sliding enemies and cancel Ash’s dash or Sparrow’s double jump
  • Falling Stars is now built into her base kit

New Upgrades:

  • Help is Here: Lets Wattson open Support Bins, revive faster with shield regen, and use MRBs with banners
  • Ultimate Conductor: Turns damage into Ultimate charge; knockdowns give 30% ult charge
  • Energized Healer: Doubles healing from small med items
  • Power Pylon: Boosts Ult HP, healing speed, and max capacity

Vantage

Vantage gets better movement and sniper tools.

  • Upper body hitbox is smaller
  • Echo Relocation: Faster, 10m longer range, auto-recalls, quick gun swap (0.2s), and wider FOV
  • Sniper’s Mark: Laser stays hidden until you shoot, refreshes after each shot, and lines up better with aim

New Upgrades:

  • Controlling My Prey: Access to Ring Consoles and zone boosts
  • Improved Mark: Lets squad see marked enemies through walls, shows enemy health briefly
  • Tactical Cooldown: Lowers cooldown by 5 seconds
  • Sniper Cover: Adds Gun Shield to her sniper shots

Ash

Ash gets some balance changes to tone down frustration while keeping her dangerous.

  • Dash cooldown drops from 10s to 8s
  • Tether strength slightly weaker vs fast-moving Legends

Upgrades Adjusted:

  • Dual Breach is now a Level 2 upgrade
  • Charged Knock added: Heal a bit when getting a knock
  • Ghost in the Machine removed
  • Greedy Snare and Twin Snares moved to Level 3

Sound and Tech Fixes

Respawn is still working on long-standing audio issues with better prioritization and tracking tools.

  • Enemy footsteps are now louder than friendly ones
  • Zip-lines and downed enemy sounds are toned down
  • Hovertank volume lowered in Kings Canyon
  • Audio log prompt: Players with sound bugs may be asked to upload logs to help the devs figure it out

Ranked Tweaks and Dive Trail Rewards

Ranked transparency is getting a small but helpful update. Now, your squad’s Rank Tier shows based on the highest-ranked teammate—not individually.

Also, players who completed the Ladder Champion Challenge in Split 1 get a Dive Trail for all of Split 2. To keep it in future seasons, you’ll need to complete the challenge again.

Map Rotations and Mixtape Modes

Here’s what maps are in rotation now for Pubs, Ranked, and Mixtape:

Pubs & Ranked Maps:

  • Kings Canyon
  • World’s Edge
  • Broken Moon

Mixtape (March 25 – May 5, 2025):

  • TDM: Fragment, Party Crasher, Skull Town
  • Control: Caustic, Production Yard, Lava Siphon
  • Gun Run: Skull Town, Monument, The Core

These modes keep the game feeling fresh with a mix of styles and strategies.

The Season 25 midseason update shows that Respawn is serious about keeping Apex Legends fun, competitive, and up to date. Whether you’re into fast-paced duels, want to try the buffed Legends, or just enjoy smoother audio and matchmaking, this patch has something for you. It’s a good time to jump back in and see what’s changed.
