Borderlands 4 is packed with 98 side missions across Kairos, but not all of them are visible on your map. While most appear as blue exclamation points when you uncover new areas, a handful are completely hidden and require very specific actions to unlock. If you’re stuck at 93/98 or 97/98 on the Grassroots Campaigner challenge, it’s almost always because of these secret objectives.

This guide covers all hidden side missions, how to unlock them, and the steps needed to complete them.
1. Breeding Daisies
- Location: The Fadefields, Gushing Turret
- How to Unlock: Head west of the Outbounders HQ at The Launchpad. You’ll spot Mort being harassed by Threshers. Defeat the enemies, then talk to him.
- Objective: Enter a nearby cave, hunt Threshers, and collect their eggs so Mort can raise them as farmhands.
- Why It’s Hidden: Mort won’t appear until you defeat the Threshers attacking him in the Fadefields, and only then will the Breeding Daisies side mission become available — meaning players who don’t stop to investigate the fight can easily miss it.
2. Whack-a-Thresher
- Location: Mort’s Farmstead, south of Kit Hole Order Silo
- How to Unlock: Complete Breeding Daisies, then return to Mort at his farm.
- Objective: Put rebellious Threshers back in line by stomping and punching them.
- Why It’s Hidden: This is locked behind Breeding Daisies and won’t appear until you finish that quest.
3. The Neverending Quarry
- Location: Terminus District, Dominion (Ironwall Resolve Order Bunker)
- How to Unlock: Before entering the main stairs of the bunker, head right into a side room. Inside is a red chest—open it, but immediately back away as it explodes. This triggers the quest.
- Objective: Survive a Ripper ambush set off by the chest.
- Why It’s Hidden: The chest is unmarked and looks like regular loot until you interact with it.
4. A Quarry of Epic Proportions
- Location: Terminus District, near Frantic Scrawl Fast Travel
- How to Unlock: After finishing The Neverending Quarry, travel through the northern tunnels until you find a lone Vending Machine. Interact with it—it’s trapped and explodes, starting this quest.
- Objective: Defeat the larger group of Rippers that spawn.
- Why It’s Hidden: The mission is disguised as an ordinary Vending Machine until activated.
5. The Final Quarrel
- Location: Terminus District, southwest near The Food Court Safehouse
- How to Unlock: From the Safehouse, head north to a dead-end corridor with a dumpster. Opening it causes another explosive trap, beginning the quest.
- Objective: Fight Horatio and his Rippers in the final ambush of the Quarry chain.
- Why It’s Hidden: Like the earlier quarry missions, it relies on interacting with a disguised object.
6. Forgive Me
- Location: Cuspid Climb (start) and Stoneblood Forest (completion)
- How to Unlock: South of the Reliquary Order Silo in Cuspid Climb, enter a cave with a giant skull and waterfall. Defeat the Badass Psycho inside, who drops the Desecrated Bolt to start the quest.
- Objective: Travel to Stoneblood Forest, glide into the northern cave near the Snowy Wells safehouse, and place the Desecrated Bolt at Zanzibart’s shrine. This spawns the Cursed Myrmidon of the Cruel Dawn. Defeat it, then listen to Vycarias, the Lore-Singer, to complete the quest.
- Why It’s Hidden: There are no map markers for Zanzibart’s shrine, forcing players to explore and piece it together themselves.
7. Brew-Ha-Ha
- Location: Coastal Bonescape, The Fadefields
- How to Unlock: First complete Hangover Helper (Ole Shammy’s quest), then later finish Mob Justice with The Boss in Terminus Range. Only after both are cleared can you return to Shammy’s Shack in Coastal Bonescape to unlock Brew-Ha-Ha.
- Objective: Help Shammy deal with his brewing troubles, which spin into more chaos than expected.
- Why It’s Hidden: Requires completion of two separate quests in different regions before it becomes available, making it the trickiest to unlock.
