Borderlands 4 might be off to one of the strongest launches in franchise history, but not everything has gone smoothly. While Gearbox has rolled out several updates since release, one particular issue involving Rafa’s Soltado skill continues to frustrate players. Thankfully, the studio has officially confirmed that a fix is on the way.

Since its release, Borderlands 4 has dominated the charts, even becoming the highest-earning launch in the series according to Circana’s Mat Piscatella. However, beneath the success, technical problems have plagued the game—particularly on PC.
Gearbox has already released seven major patches in six weeks, each addressing performance issues, quest bugs, and balance tweaks. But as the studio prepares yet another update, some high-profile character bugs remain unresolved.
One of the most talked-about issues centers on Rafa, a fan-favorite Vault Hunter whose combat potential has been limited by a persistent Soltado skill bug.
The Rafa Soltado Bug Explained
Rafa’s Soltado is a passive skill that’s supposed to double all Overdrive bonuses for eight seconds. When Rafa activates an Action Skill, he enters Overdrive, boosting his damage and movement speed. With Soltado, those boosts are meant to become even stronger—especially when combined with class mods like the Devastating Dancer Legendary Class Mod, which should add an additional skill point and further amplify the effect.
Unfortunately, that’s not what’s happening.
Players discovered that Soltado is currently locked at a single skill point, meaning no matter how many class mods you equip, the bonus remains minimal. Essentially, Rafa’s most exciting burst potential is missing half its intended power.
This issue was first reported to Gearbox by a user named Templar through the official support tracker on September 19. After over a month of silence, the studio finally acknowledged the problem.
Gearbox Confirms a Fix Is Coming
On October 21, Gearbox responded to Templar’s report, confirming that the Soltado issue is “planned to be addressed in a future update.”
A day later, Creative Director Graeme Timmins personally confirmed the news on X (formerly Twitter). When a fan asked if the fix would arrive in the October 23 patch, Timmins replied:
“We have a fix for this coming, but it didn’t make it in time for tomorrow’s patch unfortunately. It will be addressed in a future patch instead. We understand it’s frustrating and appreciate any patience you can afford.”
This means Rafa mains will need to wait a little longer before their favorite skill tree functions as intended. Still, the acknowledgment is a good sign—especially after several weeks of uncertainty.

For many Rafa players, the Soltado glitch doesn’t just limit fun—it affects balance across endgame content. Rafa’s damage scaling heavily depends on Overdrive and its doubled bonuses. Without Soltado working properly, his builds can’t compete with others like Vex’s infinite bleed or the crit knife builds, which were recently nerfed.
Fixing Soltado should restore parity among Vault Hunters, giving Rafa’s kit the edge it was designed for—fast, high-tempo combat that rewards aggressive playstyles. Gearbox has faced similar adjustment challenges before, and players are hopeful this fix will lean toward a buff rather than another nerf.
Some other bugs encountered include the Peacebreaker Cannons’ “Unmissable Missiles” glitch, where powerful shots can knock bosses outside their arenas, forcing a restart or trapping players in endless enemy spawns.
In multiplayer, this bug can also lead to AFK experience exploits when paired with Vex builds, making it both game-breaking and easily farmable. Play Now!
