How to Get the Cursed Skull in PEAK

The Cursed Skull is classified as a legendary item. It usually spawns inside Ancient Luggage scattered across the island but will never appear from Scout Statues. Importantly, since version 1.1a, it also does not spawn in solo mode, which prevents players from wasting runs by accidentally killing themselves with it.

Because luggage pieces are random, there’s no guaranteed way to secure one—your best chance is to search as many bags as possible during your climb.

What the Cursed Skull Does

The Cursed Skull’s effect has changed since launch:

  • Originally (v1.0, June 16, 2025): It sacrificed you while reviving all dead teammates with full health, stamina, and cleared debuffs.
  • After Patch v1.5a (June 24, 2025): Its effect was reworked. Now, the Skull kills the user but restores full stamina, clears negative effects (except Curse), and adds +50 bonus stamina to all nearby teammates. It no longer revives the dead, since the Scout Effigy already fills that role.

This shift explains why many players still believe it can bring allies back — a “Mandela effect” fueled by early patch memories.

Bugs and Issues

Players have reported that the Cursed Skull sometimes fails to apply its effects or even crashes the session when used. These bugs mean that, while it’s a powerful team-play item, relying on it as your last hope can occasionally backfire.

When to Use the Cursed Skull

The Skull is designed for team support, not solo play. In solo runs, it’s completely useless because you’ll simply die. In multiplayer, though, it can be game-changing when:

  • Your teammates are exhausted, poisoned, or weighed down by negative effects.
  • You’re in a losing situation and a stamina reset could give your allies the push needed to continue the climb.
  • You’re willing to sacrifice your run so your team can progress.

Timing is everything — use it too early, and you waste your life. Use it at the right moment, and it can save your entire squad’s climb.

The Cursed Skull is one of PEAK’s most iconic “high-risk, high-reward” items. While it once revived allies, today it serves as a stamina restorer and debuff cleanser at the cost of your own life. Think of it as a last-ditch clutch tool for team survival.

If you want revival power, stick to the Scout Effigy — that’s the real resurrection item. But if you’re ready to play the hero and give your teammates the edge, the Cursed Skull is your ultimate sacrifice play. Play Now!
