The Shrooms update adds a new production chain to Schedule 1, giving players another profitable product to manage alongside existing operations. Unlike other items, shrooms rely heavily on environmental control, preparation steps, and timing. If you skip even one requirement, growth will stall.
How to Unlock Shrooms in Schedule 1
Before you can grow anything, you need access to the shroom supply chain.
Shrooms become available once you unlock the Downtown region and build solid relationships with specific NPC customers. After progressing far enough, a new contact—Fungal Phil—appears in your phone. He is the only supplier for all shroom-related materials and operates through dead drops, similar to other underground vendors.

Items Required to Grow Shrooms in Schedule 1
Shrooms cannot be grown with basic equipment alone. You need a mix of biological ingredients and specialized hardware.
From Fungal Phil
These items are ordered via dead drops:
- Grain Bag – Required to create mushroom spawn
- Spore Syringe – Injected into the grain bag
- Mushroom Substrate – Acts as soil for the mushroom bed
From Oscar (Warehouse, after 6 PM)
- Mushroom Spawn Station – Used to create mushroom spawn
- Mushroom Bed – Where shrooms actually grow
From the Hardware Store
- Spray Bottle – Required for watering
- AC Unit – Controls temperature
- Plant Trimmers – Used during harvesting
- Packaging Station – For preparing shrooms to sell
Without all of these, the process cannot move forward.
How to Create Mushroom Spawn in Schedule 1
Shroom production begins at the Mushroom Spawn Station.
- Place the spawn station inside one of your properties.
- Insert a Grain Bag into the first slot.
- Insert a Spore Syringe into the second slot.
- Remove the syringe cap and carefully rotate it until the needle aligns with the grain bag.
- Inject the spores by interacting with the syringe plunger.
Once completed, the station produces Mushroom Spawn, which is required for planting.
This step cannot be automated reliably and is best done manually.
How to Plant Shrooms in Schedule 1
With spawn ready, you can move on to planting.
- Place a Mushroom Bed nearby.
- Pour Mushroom Substrate into the bed.
- Add the Mushroom Spawn.
- Break the spawn into very small pieces using the interaction controls.
- Mix the spawn evenly into the substrate until the bed is fully prepared.
If any spawn pieces fall off during this step, the process fails and must be restarted, so move carefully.
Shrooms Temperature and Water Requirements
Shrooms will not grow under default conditions. Two environmental requirements must be met.
Temperature Control
- Place an AC Unit close to the Mushroom Bed.
- Switch it from heating mode to cooling mode.
- Lower the temperature until it falls below 15°C.
Watering
- Use the Spray Bottle on the Mushroom Bed.
- Spray five separate times to trigger growth.
Only after both conditions are met will the growth cycle begin.
How to Increase Shroom Quality in Schedule 1
By default, shrooms grow at common quality, but there are ways to improve this.
- Applying fertilizer to cover 100% of the substrate before growth increases final quality.
- Using a Drying Rack after harvest allows you to fine-tune quality levels.
- A clipboard can be used to set a target quality during drying.
Higher quality directly impacts selling price and customer demand.
Harvesting and Selling Shrooms
Once the growth cycle completes:
- Use Plant Trimmers to harvest the mushrooms.
- Move harvested shrooms to a Packaging Station.
- Bag them using standard baggies.
- Open your phone’s Product Manager and set a price.
Most players find success pricing shrooms between $80 and $85, depending on quality and demand.
After pricing, customers can be found through normal street sales.
