Not every character in Date Everything is easy to spot. While most items in your house can be dated in some form, a few of them are hidden pretty well. One of the most unique and secret characters is Sassy Chap—the fancy-looking top hat who’s actually the mascot of the game’s developers. Unlike others, you won’t find him just lying around your room. You’ll need to know exactly where to look, and how to interact with him the right way to get a romance ending.

Fun fact: Sassy Chap is Dateable #95 and part of the late-game group of characters that are more abstract and hidden. He’s basically the “face” of the dev team rolled into one.
Why he’s different: Sassy Chap stands out because he represents the entire development team as one character. Instead of dating just one dev, you’re trying to impress them all at once through a quiz.
Where to Find Sassy Chap
To unlock Sassy Chap, you have to do things differently compared to other characters. Here’s what you need to do:
Put on your Dateviators: These are your special scanning glasses. You need to wear them before you do anything else.
Open the Credits from your phone: Go to your in-game phone, and choose the “Credits” app. This will start scrolling through the list of developers who worked on the game.
Hold the scan button while Credits are rolling: Keep the scan button pressed like you’re scanning any object. If done right, Sassy Chap will appear from the scroll in a flash of sparkles.
Talk to him to start the route: He’ll pop out with some funny dialogue and then invite you into his special dating mode—a kind of quiz show where you meet the people who made the game.
Tip: There’s one small in-game hint to his existence. The character Phoenicia makes a cryptic comment about “someone hiding in plain sight”—she’s talking about Sassy Chap.
How His Dating Route Works
Sassy Chap’s dating method is unlike anything else in the game. Instead of regular hangouts or giving gifts, he puts you into a kind of mini-game show. One by one, you’ll “date” the developers—33 in total—by answering their questions.
Each developer asks you something related to their job, hobbies, or personality. You’ll pick a reply, and depending on your choice, they’ll either:
- Love you (+2 points)
- Like you (+1 point)
- Dislike you (–1 point)
To fully romance Sassy Chap, you need a score of 30 or higher at the end. Getting 15–29 points gives you the Friendship ending. Scoring below that gives you the Hate ending.
You can pause and come back later and even try for all three endings without starting a new save. This makes Sassy Chap one of the easiest routes to explore completely in one run.
Don’t worry if you miss a few answers. You don’t need to get every answer right to make him fall for you—just aim for a high enough score by getting most of them correct.
Answers That Help You Win
The order of developer questions is random, but the answers are always the same. To help you reach 30 points fast, here are some good ones to memorize:
Developer | Answer to Choose |
---|---|
Jamie | “He became a godfather, a fiancé, and the owner of all base 102 Pokémon cards.” |
Michael | “À la recherche du temps; Mole poblano; The coccyx.” |
William | “01001100 01101111 01110110 01100101” (binary for ‘Love’) |
Tay | “Tell me about your D&D character.” |
Rebecca | “Going to a concert or musical and then drinking tea and discussing horror movies.” |
These are just a few—there are 30+ developers you’ll meet, and you don’t need to be perfect. As long as you get most of them right, you’ll earn enough points for the romance ending.
What Happens at the End
Once you finish talking to the developers, Sassy Chap will total your score and give you one of three possible endings.
Romance Ending (30+ points)
- Sassy Chap confesses his love, and you get a special CG image, a Date-a-Dex entry, and faster loading screens in the game.
Friendship Ending (15–29 points)
- You stay pals. You unlock a new background track and a “Dev Buddy” title card.
Hate Ending (Low score)
- Sassy Chap roasts you, and you get the funny “Thanks for Your Purchase” achievement. It’s meant as a joke, but it still counts toward 100% completion.
Achievements and Replay Options
If you’re trying to finish everything in the game, Sassy Chap’s path is one of the most replayable. You can reset and try again for all three endings without needing to restart the full game.
Here’s what you get for each path:
- Romance: CG unlock, speed buff, Dex entry
- Friendship: Title card and extra music
- Hate: Secret trophy/achievement
Sassy Chap’s route is more than just another romantic option—it’s a fun way to interact with the real-life developers of Date Everything. Through jokes, quizzes, and a ton of personality, this hidden character gives the game a personal touch you won’t find in the rest of the cast.
Whether you’re in it for the laughs, the achievements, or just to see what happens when you date a walking dev mascot, Sassy Chap is one of the most memorable experiences the game has to offer.
