What is the Picture Pursuit event in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Picture Pursuit sends you around the Valley on photo-based scavenger hunts. Seven Villagers each hand out one quest, and every quest asks you to track down four hidden Motifs in a specific location and photograph them with your Royal Phone. Finish five of the seven quests and the event duty resolves, handing you the Pure Cinema Photo Frame as the grand prize.

Which Villagers do you need unlocked for Picture Pursuit?

Only unlocked Villagers can hand out their Picture Pursuit quest, so check this list before the event window closes.

• Merlin – Available from the start of the game.
• Mickey – Available from the start of the game.
• Moana – Recruited by completing How Far You’ll Go in the Moana Realm.
• Buzz Lightyear – Recruited by completing A Secret Mission in Uncharted Space in the Toy Story Realm.
• Alice – Recruited by completing Leaving Wonderland in the Alice in Wonderland Realm.
• Peter Pan – Recruited by completing The Music’s on the Walls at Skull Rock.
• Cinderella – Recruited by finding her lost shoe and completing The Pumpkin and the Princess.

Peter Pan and Cinderella tend to take longer to unlock than the rest, so prioritize those realm quests first if you haven’t already.

All Walrus Motif locations in Picture Pursuit: Merlin

Merlin hides four Walrus Motifs around the Dream Castle.

• Enter through the main entrance and check the base of the left pillar for the first one.
• Turn right past the entrance and walk between the plants near the staircase. The second Motif sits on the wall beside the secret gem door.
• Head to the third floor. The third Motif is on the wall above the door leading to the Expansion Realms portals.
• On the fourth floor, go to the staircase closest to the Lady and the Tramp Realm. The last Motif is on the base of the staircase pillar nearest the windows.

All Pete Motif locations in Picture Pursuit: Mickey

Mickey’s four Pete Motifs are split between his house and Goofy’s house.

• Inside Mickey’s house, check the side of the fridge for the first Motif.
• Still inside Mickey’s house, the second one is on the bed cover.
• Move to Goofy’s house, where the third Motif is also on the bed cover.
• The fourth is on the middle cushion of Goofy’s couch.

All Kakamora Motif locations in Picture Pursuit: Moana

Moana’s Kakamora Motifs are scattered around her Realm.

• Turn right when you arrive to spot the first Motif on a rock among some shrubs and flowers.
• Find Moana’s boat on the beach. The second Motif is on the sail, on the side closest to the exit portal.
• Directly in front of the boat, look up at the tip of the large rock overlooking the beach for the third Motif.
• The fourth Motif hides among rocks on an inaccessible island on the opposite side of the beach. You may need to wade into the water to get close enough for the photo to register, since shooting from the mainland doesn’t always count.

All Hamm Motif locations in Picture Pursuit: Buzz Lightyear

Buzz sends you into the Toy Story Realm for four Hamm Motifs.

• From the entrance, look for the first Motif on the side of the white table along the wall, beneath the large track loop and next to the red and green slide.
• Use the ramp up to the end of the bed. The second Motif is on the painting directly above the bedhead.
• From the ledge at the end of the bed, check the white shelf running along the wall next to the door. The third Motif sits on the top shelf.
• Inside the closet, the fourth Motif is on the wall next to a red backpack.

All Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum Motif locations in Picture Pursuit: Alice

Alice hides four Motifs in the forest of the Alice in Wonderland Realm.

• On arrival, check the stone wall behind the Crafting Bench and Cooking Station for the first Motif.
• Directly opposite that spot, the second Motif is on the stone wall beside the waterfall.
• Head to the far back right corner of the Realm, near the pink mushroom that leads to the Queen of Hearts’ Garden. Skip the mushroom and keep going down the path instead. Around the first corner, the third Motif is above the path, behind a tree on the cliff.
• Continue down the same path to find the fourth Motif above the strange tree portal that leads to the Queen of Hearts’ Garden.

All Gus Motif locations in Picture Pursuit: Cinderella

Cinderella’s quest takes you into the Vitalys Mine, which you reach through the Sunlit Plateau, behind a waterfall.

• Enter the mine and take the path left. The first Motif is on the top wooden crate that has a lit lantern on it.
• From there, follow the path and turn right. Past a mine cart and a stack of two wooden crates, the second Motif is on the far side of the crates.
• Keep following the mine cart track deeper in until you reach a small campsite area. Look for the third Motif on top of the crates beside the Cooking Station, though you can also get the shot earlier from across the stream by the mine’s entrance if that angle is easier.
• Backtrack to where the mine cart tracks end. Take the dirt ramp up to a small platform with a waterfall. The fourth Motif is on the wooden crate by the water’s edge.

All Lost Boy Motif locations in Picture Pursuit: Peter Pan

Peter Pan’s quest sends you to Skull Rock for four Lost Boy Motifs. Exact locations for this quest weren’t confirmed in the sources checked for this guide.
