After spending dozens of hours battling through Lumiose City’s Wild Zones and climbing the Z-A Royale ranks, your journey in Pokémon Legends: Z-A eventually leads to a mysterious promise — one final wish granted by Quasartico Inc. But what does this “wish” actually do? And does it change the ending in any meaningful way?

The Setup: Your Final Test in Lumiose City
Once you reach Rank A and clear Main Mission 38, you’ll meet Vinnie and Jett near Centrico Plaza. Alongside your rival — either Taunie or Urbain — you’re reminded of the long-standing promise:
“If you achieve Rank A, one wish will be granted… so long as it’s within Quasartico’s power.”
This marks the beginning of the “Future of Lumiose City” quest — a symbolic conclusion to your journey through the ranks.
The Three Wish Options
When the moment comes, you’re presented with three distinct choices:
- “I want us all to battle Pokémon together!”
- “I want us to live in harmony with Pokémon!”
- “I want more Pokémon to live in Lumiose!”
At first glance, these sound like weighty moral or story-branching options. However, the outcome is far simpler — and a bit playful.
What Each Choice Actually Does
1. “I want us all to battle Pokémon together!”

This is the canon progression choice.
Choosing it advances the dialogue with Vinnie and Jett, officially completing the main story and unlocking the Infinite Z-A Royale.
The Infinite Royale acts as the game’s true post-game mode, allowing you to keep battling trainers, earn Ticket Points, and access additional Pokémon and rewards. It’s essentially Z-A’s way of letting you continue your adventure indefinitely.
2. “I want us to live in harmony with Pokémon!”
This wish earns a thoughtful but circular response from your rival.
They remind you that Quasartico’s entire mission is already about uniting humans and Pokémon in harmony. Once the dialogue ends, you’ll be returned to the wish-selection screen.
3. “I want more Pokémon to live in Lumiose!”
This choice results in a humorous comment from Vinnie, who explains that Lumiose already has plenty of Pokémon — especially after twenty Wild Zones have been established across the city. Like the second option, it loops you back to the wish-selection screen.
Does the Wish Choice Affect the Ending?
No matter what you pick, the story funnels you back to the same outcome — you must choose the first option to progress. The other two simply provide optional dialogue variations and a bit of personality for the characters.
There are no alternate endings, no alignment changes, and no gameplay differences tied to your wish. Once you select the first option, the credits roll, and you’re free to explore post-game content.
What Happens After Making the Wish
- Main Mission 38 is marked complete.
- You unlock the Infinite Z-A Royale, letting you rematch trainers for EXP and rewards.
- Your Rotom Phone gets an update granting access to new Battle Zones and “Reward Matches.”
- Post-game activities open up, including catching the X & Y Legendary Trio, finding AZ’s Lucario, and exploring Wild Zone 20, which features both Z-A and Kanto starters.
This structure mirrors the pattern seen in earlier Pokémon Legends titles — a clear ending, followed by a robust open post-game that rewards players for continued exploration.

While the wish itself doesn’t branch the story, it symbolically reflects your journey. “Battling Pokémon together” represents unity through battle — the core theme of Z-A’s gameplay and the ideal outcome of Lumiose City’s redevelopment. It’s the developers’ way of reinforcing that the heart of the adventure lies in cooperation, not divergence. Play Now!
