Paint is one of the most useful materials in Pokémon Pokopia. It lets you recolor furniture, decorations, and homes, giving you the freedom to build themed environments and matching habitats for your Pokémon. Whether you want a specific color for a room layout or need every shade to complete your collection, this guide covers both ways to get Paint, every recipe, and how to craft Paint Balloons.

How to Get Paint in Pokémon Pokopia
There are two ways to obtain Paint in Pokopia. Early in the game, you get Paint by crushing Berries with the help of specific Pokémon. Later, you can skip the Berry grind entirely and buy Paint directly from a shop.
Method 1: Crush Berries with Crush Specialty Pokémon
This is the main method available during most of your playthrough. Each Berry type produces a specific Paint color when crushed. To start, collect the Berries you need, then bring them to a Pokémon with the Crush specialty.
Crush Specialty Pokémon include Onix in Withered Wastelands, Conkeldurr in Sparkling Skylands, Graveler, Golem, Metagross, Tyranitar, and several others. Hand your Berries over, then go do something else while the Pokémon processes them. It takes a short while, so do not stand and wait.
Black Paint and White Paint work differently from the other colors. You cannot produce them directly from a specific Berry. Instead, they drop as bonus Paint when you crush other Berries. White Paint has a chance to appear when you crush Leppa, Chesto, or Lum Berries. Black Paint can drop when you crush Aspear, Pecha, or Rawst Berries.
Method 2: Buy Paint from the Palette Town PC Shop
Once you upgrade Palette Town to Environment Level 5, the PC Shop there starts stocking Paint for direct purchase. Palette Town sits west of Withered Wastelands and gives you a lot more creative freedom than the main island. Reaching Environment Level 5 takes time, but once you do, you never need to farm Berries for Paint again.

How to Use Paint in Pokémon Pokopia
You have two ways to apply Paint to items and structures in Pokopia.
Ask Smearguru
Smearguru lives in Bleak Beach and has the Paint specialty. Bring your item and the required Paint to Smearguru and ask them to customize it for you. If you want to paint a home instead of a furniture item, ask Smearguru to follow you and lead them to the structure.
Craft and Throw Paint Balloons
After you complete Smearguru’s questline, you unlock the ability to craft Paint Balloons at a Workbench or Crafting Bench. Throw a Paint Balloon directly at a placed furniture item to change its color without needing Smearguru present. This is much faster once you have stockpiled Paint.
Some items have two paintable sections, so you can mix and match colors on the same piece of furniture.
