The Power Gambit is the sixth main quest in Dying Light: The Beast, unlocked after you complete First Blood by defeating Mist, the Chimera. While some players find this mission repetitive, it plays an important role in pushing the story forward and introducing new survival challenges inside the old power plant.

How to Start Power Gambit
You’ll automatically receive this quest once you return to Town Hall after First Blood. Sheriff Jacob gives you the task of restoring electricity by investigating the nearby power plant, which has gone offline under suspicious circumstances.
Before you Start:
- Stock up on medkits, lockpicks, and decent mid-game weapons.
- Activate the Clock Tower safe house on the way—this helps if you need to respawn nearby.
How to Reach the Power Plant and Meet the Foreman
The power plant is heavily guarded by Biters, making direct entry risky. To reach the Foreman:
- Approach the small shed beside the main building.
- Use the ledges and pipes to shimmy around the exterior.
- Follow the parkour path up to an open window where the Foreman is hiding.
The Foreman won’t join you but points you toward the plant’s main building.
Climbing Inside the Main Building
Your quest marker highlights an open window above the water basin. To get inside:
- Grab the pipes and ledges leading upward.
- If blocked by an air duct, drop to the lower ledge and continue across.
- Don’t forget to lower the ladder on your way—this creates a shortcut if you fall.
Inside, prepare for combat. You’ll need to lockpick a door, then crawl through a vent that drops you into a zombie-filled office. Clear them out to progress.
How to Drain the Flooded Turbine Hall
The turbine chamber is submerged, and restoring it requires multiple steps:
- Dive underwater to find two red valves—turn them both. Air pockets exist near the ceiling if you need a breather.
- Enter the Control Room. The terminal is offline.
- Head to the Backup Generator room, but watch for an ambushing Biter at the door.
- Turn on the generator, grab the cable, and move the nearby cabinet to reveal a vent.
- Crawl through the vent to make the cable reach the terminal, then power it on to drain the hall.
Steps to Activate the Turbines
Once the water is drained, the objective shifts to restoring turbine function:
- The turbine control panel is in Room A, but it keeps shutting down.
- Travel through Room B to Room C, where multiple Bombers spawn in close quarters. Take them out from a distance.
- Inside the storage area, collect the valve wrench (and loot everything else).
- Return to Room A, use the wrench on the red pipes, and restart the turbine controls.
Facing Largo Betrayal
When you return to Largo, he reveals his allegiance to the Baron. A wave of soldiers ambushes you. Luckily, Kyle’s Beast Mode triggers automatically at this moment.
Tips for the fight:
- Use Beast Mode to quickly eliminate the soldiers with firearms.
- Once it wears off, rely on blocking and countering melee soldiers, or use ranged weapons.
- Clear the building of all Baron’s men, then restore power at the Control Room.
Return to Town Hall and Claim Rewards
Head back to the Sheriff to complete the mission. Your rewards include:
- Survivor Reinforced Jeans (gear upgrade)
- 500 Old World Money
- 10,000 XP
- Co-op Lootbox (if completed in multiplayer)
Completing Power Gambit also unlocks a new type of survivor activity across Castor Woods, giving you more side content.
