Step-by-Step Location Guide
1. Go to Elerrathin’s Home
- Coordinates: X: -207, Y: -55
- Located in the northwest section of the Lower City, just past the Baldur’s Gate waypoint.
- The house is surrounded by greenery and has a porch with a child practicing martial arts.
Note: Inside the basement, the hidden room containing Belm uses a different internal coordinate system (X: -1572, Y: 976), but the entrance is always accessed through Elerrathin’s Home at X: -207, Y: -55.
2. Obtain the Harp-Shaped Pin
To open the hidden passage to the basement, you need the Harp-Shaped Pin.
Option A: If Jaheira is in Your Party
- Enter Elerrathin’s Home.
- A cutscene plays with her children.
- Go upstairs and speak to Tate (a boy in one of the rooms).
- He will hand you the Harp-Shaped Pin directly.
Option B: Without Jaheira
- Go to the Graveyard and Mortuary, north of Elfsong Tavern.
- Inside, look for the Mahogany Casket near the window.
- Steal the Harp-Shaped Pin from it. Use stealth or distract the caretaker with a companion.
There is also an alternative method: a Harp-Shaped Pin can be found on the roof of Elerrathin’s Home, inside a bag—if you can climb up.
3. Open the Basement Passage
- Head to the office on the first floor of Elerrathin’s Home.
- You’ll automatically pass a Perception check revealing a Pin Slot in the desk.
- Insert the Harp-Shaped Pin to open the hidden passage.
This check is passive and triggered automatically as you approach the desk—no action required.

4. Disarm the Basement Traps
- Inside the basement, you’ll find traps and runes.
- Move the nearby chest off the pressure plate to disable them safely.
This action deactivates pressure-triggered rune traps without needing a high Sleight of Hand skill.
5. Find the Hidden Room
- Enter a cave-like area with a hut.
- Pass another Perception check to reveal loose floorboards and a tall bookshelf.
- Disarm the trap beneath the loose floorboards to access a key.
Two Options to Unlock the Secret Door:
- Use the key to unlock the bookcase.
- Or pass a DC18 Sleight of Hand check to open the bookcase directly.
Like before, these perception checks are automatic and tied to proximity, so make sure your characters with high Wisdom are nearby.
6. Loot Belm
- Inside the hidden room, open the Opulent Chest to obtain Belm.
If Jaheira is in your party and has a positive relationship with you, she won’t object to you looting the hidden gear.
Bonus Loot in the Hidden Room
Alongside Belm, make sure to grab:
- Staff of the Ram – a powerful magical staff.
- Khalid’s Gift Amulet – a rare necklace tied to Jaheira’s companion lore.

Remember, some Undead or Constructs may be immune to Bleed from Lacerate, so don’t rely on it against those enemy types.
