In Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic, players will need to unlock Edwin Murray’s upstairs room during the Parachute.exe storyline. This part of the game gives you a look at deeper story moments, but you’ll first need to solve a code puzzle.
What makes it tricky? The code is different every time, so you have to find the clues in every playthrough.

Here’s how to find all the reels and figure out the correct room code.
How to Start the Puzzle: Choose the Parachute.exe Ending
To get to Edwin’s house, you need to choose the Parachute.exe path. Don’t give the Data Diver to the Dispatcher. If you go the Parachute.exe route, you’ll unlock a secret path that leads to Edwin’s old house.
Inside, you’ll be hunted by the Mimic. Your goal is to find five reels, each showing a number, and then figure out the correct order using a photo that spells out DAVID.
Where to Find the 5 Reels in Edwin’s House
The reels are hidden inside safes throughout the house. You’ll need to explore carefully while avoiding the Mimic. Each reel plays a birthday clip on the projector and gives you a number.
Here’s where to find each one:
- Reel 1: Exit the projector room through the door next to the inventory tube. In the room with the tiger mascot costume, check the small room on the left. There’s a safe with the first reel inside.
- Reel 2: Go out the main exit of the projector room. In the hallway, turn left into the room, then go into the side room on the right. There’s a safe beside a round table.
- Reel 3: Keep going down the hallway. Enter the room near the staircase. You’ll see an open vent. Crawl through to reach a storage area with another safe and reel.
- Reel 4: Go upstairs. Be careful—the Mimic patrols this area. Enter the first room at the top of the stairs. Inside, you’ll find the fourth reel in a safe.
- Reel 5: Go to the end of the second-floor hallway. On the left side is a room with a workbench and round table. The last reel is in the safe between them.
Tip: Use wind-up mouse toys, voice mannequins, or vents to distract the Mimic and move safely.
How to Use the Reels to Get the Code
After collecting all five reels, place them on the table near the projector.
You’ll see a photo above the projector spelling the name DAVID, with each letter in a different color. These colors tell you the order to play the reels.
Each reel shows a number at the end. Play them in the order of DAVID’s colors, then use those numbers as your door code.
Here’s what the color order usually looks like:
Letter | Color | Reel Position |
---|---|---|
D | Green | 1st |
A | Magenta | 2nd |
V | Blue | 3rd |
I | Red | 4th |
D | Yellow | 5th |
Match each reel’s color to the number it shows. Then enter those numbers in DAVID’s color order on the keypad.
Unlocking the Door
Now that you’ve got all 5 digits, go to Edwin’s door upstairs and enter the numbers in the right order. If you did everything correctly, the door will unlock.
Note: This puzzle is random every time, even in New Game Plus. So, you’ll need to find and replay the reels on every run.
The Edwin’s Room puzzle is a cool part of Secret of the Mimic. It mixes story, puzzle-solving, and stealth in a fun way. Each reel shows a piece of David’s birthday, and solving the puzzle feels like piecing together part of Edwin’s past.
If you’re trying to unlock the Edwin Room Code in FNAF Secret of the Mimic, remember that it’s not just about entering numbers—it’s about understanding Edwin’s memories and following the clues carefully.
Stay alert, explore carefully, and keep track of the colors—then you’ll unlock the secrets hidden behind that locked door.
