In Hollow Knight: Silksong, players will often come across “Wishes,” side quests requested by NPCs that reward you with useful upgrades. One such quest is Crawbug Clearing, where you’re asked to gather Crawbug Ragpelts for Creige at the Halfway House. How to Start the Crawbug Clearing Quest
The Crawbug Clearing quest becomes available after you free Bellhart from the Widow’s curse during Act 1. Once Bellhart’s residents are restored, the Wish Board (also called the Wishwall) appears near the shop vendor.
- Accept the Crawbug Clearing Wish from the board.
- Travel to the Halfway House in Greymoor.
- Speak to Creige, the innkeeper, who explains that Craws are nesting above his inn and attacking passing pilgrims.
- Creige asks Hornet to bring back 25 Crawbug Ragpelts so he can build a scarecrow to ward them off.
Where to Find Crawbug Ragpelts
Ragpelts drop from Craw-type enemies found in the Greymoor region. While all Craws can drop them, not all farming methods are equally efficient. Below are the two main approaches:
1. Farming at Halfway House
- Exit through the east side of the Halfway House.
- Climb the platforms just outside to reach the roof.
- Two Crawbugs spawn there; defeat them to collect Ragpelts.
- Enter and exit the inn to respawn them.
This loop is reliable but slow since each small Craw only drops one Ragpelt.
2. Hunting in Craw Lake and Beyond
For a faster route, travel east from Halfway House toward Craw Lake, the rightmost part of Greymoor. Here you’ll encounter tougher Craw variants that drop multiple Ragpelts at once:
- Squatcraw – Hurls golden projectiles and drops up to 4 Ragpelts.
- Tallcraw – Wields a cane and uses dive-and-thrust attacks, also dropping up to 4 Ragpelts.
If you enter the Craw House challenge dome in Craw Lake, you can face multiple waves of Crawbugs in one session, making it possible to meet the 25-Ragpelt requirement quickly.
Best Farming Strategies for Ragpelts
- Respawns: All Craw-type enemies respawn when you rest at a bench, making repeated runs efficient.
- Mix Strategies: Clear Craw Lake for bulk Ragpelts, then finish any missing count using the Halfway House rooftop respawn trick.
- Avoid Overwhelm: Crawbugs often swarm; focus on quick eliminations instead of long duels.
Quest Completion and Rewards
Once you have 25 Crawbug Ragpelts:
- Return to Creige at the Halfway House.
- Hand over the Ragpelts.
- The quest “Crawbug Clearing” will be marked complete.
Rewards:
- Crafting Kit Expanded – Enhances Hornet’s crafting pouch, increasing the damage dealt by her Tools.
- A permanent Scarecraw atop the Halfway House, preventing further Craw spawns there.
This is one of the first upgrades to Hornet’s kit, and it significantly improves her offensive capabilities going forward.
